How do you do it?

Possibly summer holiday funk, but genuinely ... how do you stay sane?

I've got one adult child (currently at home plus girlfriend- both work FT) and three DDs - 7, 6 and 3. DH works full time from home and does more than his fare share of household and parenting stuff, and I run a small business, flexibly around the kids, often in the evening or dragging all the kids to the post office after school.

We seem to be constantly drowning. Nobody has any additional needs. We have a cleaner fortnightly and do little housework in between tbh, just the basic laundry, kitchen and bathroom stuff and a quick vac round if someone is coming over.

Is everyone the same? Or do I need to get up at 4am to claim some control?

I recommend having a schedule. You could use Word to prepare a daily schedule for house duties etc. For example blue could represent the bathroom, red denotes the kitchen, yellow means the living room and so on. Or you could use colors to signal different days for doing chores instead. Ask the kids to assist you as much as possible.
