Families of 5 and restaurants

Anyone else fed up with booking a table for 5 and getting a table for 4 with a chair plonked on the end?? Drives me mad. I now sometimes just book a table for 6 and say one person couldn't make it.

Anyone else?

Not something I've been bothered by over the years.

Ha, this happened to us recently with someone directing us to a perfectly square table that only fit four seats, because two of our children were tiny. I said, "but we have five", and they tried to show how to fit two seats on one side and I just stood blankly. They then offered a table with enough spots.
Seriously, you could probably fit 8 people around a tiny table on chairs, but that doesn't mean there's space for 8 plates Even tiny little children need enough space for a whole plate, cutlery and a cup!
