3 bed house with 4 kids

I have two sons and me and my partner have decided we would like another two children in future. We have a 3 bedroom house and a small mortgage so ideally I wouldn't want to move. I like where we live and we have put a lot of money into the house to make it ours. Would it be selfish to have another two and not move so that they have their own rooms when they are older? My two boys are only a year apart in age so I know they could always share. They are 2 and 3 years old currently. I was lucky enough to have my own room growing up so I don't know how it would impact a teenager having to grow up sharing a room with a sibling. Also say we had another boy and one girl then the three boys would have to share! I know a lot can happen over the years and maybe we will sell up and move to a bigger home one day but right now I'm happy paying a smaller mortgage and would like to think we wouldn't move in future.

I dont see why not, a room each is not necessary

I have 4, 3 bedroom house. Mine share and to honest come the holidays they all wanna be in together and camp out.
I shared as a teenager and was happy with it, i dont know why people insist on kids having to have their own rooms.

I've got 4 in a small 3 bed house. It works fine. I do worry a bit about how it will be when when ds1 is 15/16 and ds2 is 7/8 but that's a problem to figure out in a few years.

I think sharing is fine while they're young, my daughter hates being in a room on her own while her brothers share. If it turns into an issue when they're older, you could always look then at an extension/loft conversion/moving.

Do you have 3 big bedrooms ? Or one is a single/box room?

Think it depends on the children. We were made to share and hated it. I wouldn't keep having kids if it affects quality of life of the existing ones

I have 4 but mine are older than yours. (Ranging from 10-15)

We are currently looking to buy a new house and are only considering 5 bedrooms. (I recognise that we are very privileged to be in a position to do this.)

Up to now we have always been in a 4 bed and the twins have shared. We feel it is really important for them to have the chance to have their own space hence the desire for a 5 bed. We wouldn’t want to split the twins and have 1 share with older sister, and our eldest is our only boy so can’t share with anyone.

I honestly think it does depend on the child, but I also think that as kids get older - esp into teen years - they do need their own space.
