Have been in isolation for 2 weeks, it was fine but needed to go and get food and dog food today. Only bought one pack of toilet rolls (9)! and no bread but honestly my trolley was full, some chap said ‘no need to panic!’ I’m not, I’m just shopping for 6 and a dog! Felt like a twat though.

Me too. There's DH and I, 5 DC and the cat. I feel like I want to tell everyone as I pass them so that they don't think I'm a dick.

That was me! I think I deliberately avoided bread and pasta to try and show I wasn’t panic buying. The only thing I bought my full quota off was alcohol Blush

Same here, 5 of us and 2 weeks self isolation ended today so needed to do a big shop. I made sure the cashier knew that was the reason, then panicked she might think I was still infectious!!

I felt the need to explain myself over and over too while I shopped with a full trolley- about a weeks worth- for DP, I and the 5 DC’s. You are not alone! X

I don't t understand this weird thing about full trolleys. It's not been an uncommon sight in the supermarkets for literally decades. Why are people suddenly so interested now?

SellFridges · 01/04/2020 19:20

I wouldn’t worry. Even with just four of us I would have a full trolley - we usually eat lunch at school/work every day plus eat out at least two meals in a weekend. So I’m already shopping for an extra 28 meals extra just on that basis!

Windyatthebeach · 01/04/2020 19:23

6 dc and 4 ddogs here...
And 2 dcats that Aldi would only let dh buy 4 tins of food for!!

LizziesTwin · 01/04/2020 19:26

We had two full trolleys because we did self scan so you can’t load up in the same way. 4 adults who are all v active & who eat a lot of fresh fruit & vegetables.

LittlePesto · 01/04/2020 19:30

We're a family of 4 but I'm doubling most things I buy because I'm shopping for my parents as well. I do also feel a bit cringe as unload the trolley because it's a bug shop anyway as I'm going once a week at the most.

Personally I’d not worry one not about what other people may or may not think, it’s none of their business. If anyone comments tell them to mind their own.

Panic buyers trolleys tend to have lots and lots and lots of typical items such as loo roll, cleaning products and pasta/rice anyway and not a mix of stuff that you get in a regular large family shop.
