Commuting to work/childminders

We currently have a two and a half year old, a 14 month old and a will have a new little baby in the summer. We are having to move as the house isnt big enough. Planning to have a fourth eventually so next move needs to be to house to accommodate. Currently live a few mins drive from work and childminders. Houses of the size we need around here are too expensive; we've found a perfect one in a lovely area that'll be perfect for when the kids are in school. Problem is it's a 25-50 min commute depending on traffic, to the childminders and my work. We cant move childminders - the kids are so settled and adore her. Has anyone commuted to their childminder similarly and it worked out? The childminder is close to work so once I drop the kids off itd be straight into work.

The house is amazing and fulfills every need - not likely to come up again. But have visions of screaming kids in the back...

Yes similar set up here as we moved although we are now finidng that we will have to find a childminder in the area that we live and not work because the youngest will end up going to school in the area that we live. It is unlikley any childmider would want to do a school pick up that would take best part of an hour for a round trip. The schools in both the areas where we work and live are over subscribed so wouldn't be able to get the youngest into school in the area I work.

If you ever work from home would be worth remembering that if childminder is near where you work you will have to do the round journey twice to the childminders.

It doesn't sound unreasonable, but I would be looking at the new area for how you will manage when they start school as that's the bigger picture and more longterm issue.

If there's not childcare or breakfast club to worn around your commute would make the move a moot point.
