Do your children share bedrooms?

How does that work? Even with a decent amount of money 4 bed houses are like gold dust let alone 5. How does it work for you?

We have three children (two step children aged 6 and 8 who share and one biological aged one who has her own room). We have four bedrooms but need a spare room, but we're extending this year to create an extra bedroom downstairs for the eldest to move in to when he feels old enough x could you do that, or go in to the loft? Much more cost effective way of doing it! Apparently five bedrooms are really in demand now due to the amount of blended families and older family members moving in! I believe new build companies are building increased numbers of five bedroomed houses x

We live in a 4 bedrooms house with 4 children aged 16, 13, 10 & 5. My oldest 2 have there are own rooms and then my 3 & 4th shares the room.

We have enough bedrooms for the children to have one each but the eldest two want to share so so. Not sure when they will outgrow it but for now it works well.

Ds 11 shares with ds 5. Very happily!! Ds 16 +18 have own rooms.
Dd's 13 +14 share - very begrudgingly!!

We have 7 children and 6 bedrooms - 17 year old boy and 15 and 11 year old girl have own rooms. Boys aged 13 and 9 share and youngest boy age 3 has his own (box) room. Baby is just born and in with us and will stay there until about 2 as no room anywhere else as I think the older ones need their own space.

We live in a 4 bed house, we have 3 children and number 4 is due in just over 4 weeks. We have converted our garage into a 5th bedroom and that works really well for us.

We had enough bedrooms for ours to have one each. DDs spent half their time giggling and watching Netflix in one bed, frequently spending the night together like some bizarre sleepover! I couldn't understand why you'd voluntarily leave your room empty to crash with a sibling.🤔

Now children have a separate room, they were asked for a long time. It's difficult for two boys to get along, they have different characters and don't like to share their own. They had a bunk bed, but it didn't help, they fought anyway. When we moved, they had their own rooms. Of course, right after that, they became best friends. Now they only play in one room and often fall asleep with their iPad while watching cartoons. I don't understand how it works.

We have 4 beds and 3 children so they all have their own rooms. We are considering a 4th in the next year or so who will share with my youngest (18m)
Growing up I always shared with my younger sister, but when I got to around 12 I wanted my own space so we had separate rooms
then. I think a lot of teenagers would prefer their own space, particularly girls, so we may have to move in future/renovate

4 bedrooms, 5 kids.
Eldest DS has his own room. DDs 8&7 share, DDs 3 share.

3 beds, 4 kids. Older two dds 11 and 9 shared a massive room up until last year and dts 6 had the small room. Early periods threw a spanner in the works and we were convinced to swap eldest dd and the twins, works amazingly but I'm aware dd2 may also need privacy very soon.

The big bedroom would make two good sized rooms, but it's not enough really. We're totally priced out of upsizing in this very small remote town so we're pretty fucked really, short of moving the twins back into the wee room or dd2 into our room.

Feels like our only choice is to move back to the city for a cheap enough big place. We moved here for our kids...

My DDs always shared, older one went in her own room last year on the condition it was for 2 years then her sister could have a turn on her own, then DD #3 and so on...

I made mine share from babies so they were use to it and never any problems. Saying that, they aren’t teenagers yet so that may well change.

DS16 has his own room while my twins (DD and DS 11) share a room. We have a small study and the idea was to make that into a bedroom for one of them but this WFH has scuppered that! I teach from home and I really need a quiet place to do that and I don't want my students in my bedroom! Hopefully by the end of the academic year we will be back in the classroom.

I've got 3 children I still have to share with my nearly 7yr old girl and 4 year old girl, my 13yr old has the small room to himself, coundnt image not having them in my room now tho 😅

3 kids - 3 bedrooms - 2 girls share and have always done - 1 boy in his own box room but baby no 4 on way in march - another boy phew but will end up sharing with his brother in 6m to a yrs time.

You work with what u can afford and what u have. We rent and can't afford a larger house so they will just live with it 🤷🏼‍♀️

We rent a 4 bed.

We have 4 between us ( 2 girls and 2 boys )

The girls share as both are the same age (7) and they love it, they are stepsisters.

My son has his own as he's 10 and my dp little boy is 4 and has his own.

We have a little girl on the way and are thinking of making a bedroom downstairs as we are lucky enough to have an extra room downstairs so the baby then has a room. It works well for us but I guess everyone works with what they have got x

DS1&2 share, DS&4 share. Baby has own room- a single one. Both older kids rooms are big but we need to reconfigure the house at some point (when we win the lottery!!) so everyone can get a room.

Our older two share, they have the biggest bedroom, we have the middle room and daughter has her own room. Other than people who have converted lofts 3 bedrooms and 3 kids seems to be the most common arrangement here so almost everyone I know have children sharing a room.

We only have 3DC and live in a 4 bed but the DDs (13&11) share, the fourth bedroom is currently a spare room/study. DS is in the box room and we have a playroom which helps, over 90% of the DCs books and toys are in the playroom and the DC spread themselves around the house.

I was the eldest of 4 DC, I shared with DBro1 initially, then I got a room of my own and he started with DBro2 until he was a teenager. We grew up in a big detached house but it was the 70s so considered completely normal for DC to share (the middle class children of Enid Blyton always share as well).
