#4 or not!?

I have 3 dcs, 4, 3 and 1. We have always said we will have 4 kids but after baby no.3 I said that's it I'm done, chucked out all my maternity clothes started giving baby bits away. Then as time has passed we've started talking about another baby. I love my life with my 3 kids and although it's hard work I like having a busy house. However... I really dislike the mess, the washing, the lack of sleep! All of which I know will get worse with baby no.4
I feel I'm happy now to say let's stick with our 3 but DH thinks we will forever regret not going for no.4!? He also doesn't want to wait and have a big gap as he's almost 40 and doesn't want to be too old. He think I will turn round in 4 years time and say I'm ready now!
Would you go for no.4?

I think ultimately, it's your decision. Your dh's opinion matters, of course, but it sounds to me like he's putting pressure on you?

Your 1yo is still very much a baby.
Even if you waited another 6 or 12 months before deciding, you'll still have a small gap

I’ve got 3; mine are 7, 4 and 2. I wouldn’t want number 4 - I’m just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Mine are 7, 5 and 1. We always said we'd have '3 or 4' but frankly, I'm ready for it to get easier and for my oldest 2 to get a bit more of our time. I just can't do it all again, again, again! I love turning up to places with our little gang but it's plenty for me!

There is 5y 10m between DC1 and DC4. Now they are older everything is so expensive, on holiday we have to book 2 hotel rooms, always need a 7 seater, meals out are at least £60.

In saying that I adore them all and wouldn’t be without them

There's no pressure I think DH just doesn't want me to regret it and it be too late! I do feel like we are a big enough family as it is so maybe one more is just pushing the limit! We can just about still manage holidays, days out etc and I know a 4th will make that all harder!x

If I were you, I'd wait another year or so before deciding. 40 isn't that old, and a year doesn't make a huge difference to your ages anyway. For me, having a baby who's one would be very early to be thinking about another. We have a 3.5 year gap between our two kids and they are very close. Maybe don't feel rushed and just take some time to think it over.

Going from 3-4 was easier than 2-3!!
Two pairs, no middle child, less squabbles, more sharing.
Ime.

I'm on two minds about having my 6th 🙈
