Can't decide to have a third!

Hi. I'd like another baby but I'm 44 so am I too old? I'm feeling it should certainly be now or never! Anyone out there in a similar position? I already have two lovely girls aged 15 and 12. They are keen, my hubby is unsure, he's 10 yrs younger than me (not actual dad of my girls but the best step dad anyone could ever hope for. I just would like to hear from anyone else if you have any similar stories to share. Thanks xx

Hi. I just had my third baby, I'm 38. Similar position to you in that I had 2 dcs from a previous relationship ds 12 and dd 10. I met a new dp (same age as me) he didn't have dcs and his parents had no grandchildren. We talked about it but before we knew it, we were surprised to find out dd (now 7 mths) was on the way. My elder dd was excited at the prospect of a baby, my ds not so, but he loves her now! I'm so glad we did.:. I found the pregnancy harder, more painful and tiring this time but the birth and baby easier.
You're more experienced third time around and you cherish it as you realise how quick it goes. I know everyone is different when it comes to pregnancy though.
She brings so much joy to us and we couldn't imagine life without her now. People say to me, ' what's it like, is it hard work going back to it all?' I'm like, 'honestly no! It's the older 2 that are the hardest work 🤣'. Good luck with what you decide to do.

Oh, was going to add.. my DM had my little D sis at 48 with no issues, so you're not too old. 

At 44 pregnancy is not impossible, but very unlikely for most women. There will be a host of people along who will tell you about their friend's aunt who had a baby at 49, but for most people it won't happen.

I would think very carefully, I had my first DC at 43 and I am now 60, dealing with teenage years, university applications etc etc. You already have two lovely children, do you really want to go through all the child rearing all over again?

I had my first baby at 42, second at 43 and my third is due anyway and I'm 45 (soon to be 46). I'm going to be that annoying person mentioned upthread who has conceived easily each time, tbh baby number 2 and 3 were conceived as a result of a 'once that month' brief moment of passion :)

Oops pressed too soon! It IS hard work though! Tbh we wouldn't have tried for a third baby as really feel two is enough.

Hello everyone, well quite a few months later, having put the idea on the back burner for a while, my dds are v nearly 16 &13 now and I miss more than ever them being little. My dh is also keener than ever. Since he v sadly lost his dad late last year to a shockingly fast cancer he says he's more ready now to have kids of his own even though he treats my dds as his own. So... from this month we are trying! I'll let you know what happens, either way! I've had four miscarriages in the past so kind of predict I might get pregnant which at v nearly 45 would be amazing I guess, but will I be able to keep it! I did had to have half my thyroid removed two yrs (symptoms from which can cause miscarriage) so bless her my 15 yr old dd thinks that without that now I might not miscarry! Who knows! I'll keep you posted anyway....!
