Hiya. I’m pregnant with my 2nd child I have a 16 months old so she will be 2 when this little one is born. 2 years between them I thinks is a good gap? Anyone have experience on this? I do feel a little guilty tho that I’m havin another baby already

We have the same gap and it has worked brilliantly for us. The two of them get on really well and are into similar things, so they play happily together. DC2 is desperate to be big enough to run about and do everything that DC1 does and DC1 likes being the bigger one. I think it is probably harder having to deal with a two year old and a newborn, but as I've never known anything different, I just get on with it and deal with the tantrums as and when! I still found DC1 helpful for getting wipes etc and included DC1 as much as poss so they felt helpful. I'd recommend involving your DC a lot with your pregnancy, talking about 'our baby' and reading 'There's a house inside my mummy'. We talked a lot about baby and how things would be busy, noisy, different to start with etc and luckily we had no issues with jealousy.

I'm also hopeful for the future, that a small age gap will mean they will have a good relationship and things in common as they go through the various stages. I also feel like if you're in the trenches with one young child, you may as well add another and get through it at the same time!
