I gave birth to our son last September. A friend's DM is visiting her and when she saw us, she said "So, you finally got your boy" in front of my 8yo and almost 5yo dds. Way to go ....

I fumbled a bit said "Well, we weren't trying for a boy; we would have been delighted with another girl ..."

Then Dd2 interrupted with the most awesome reply: "My mum has got us three kids, actually. Hello. Bye!"

I'll never be stuck with what to say about this ever again! Might leave out the hello/bye bit, but you get the picture!

No, she won't have had any idea she was being offensive. Some adults seem to think kids are deaf or stupid

Somerville we have four here. All boys. Apart from many just mean comments I also get asked if I have a tv. My reply is "three actually but I prefer sex". Usually met with little to no response. I love to shut people up these days as sometimes the comments just get too much.

"Have you not got a TV?"
"Yes we watch a lot of porn."

I've got 4dc and 2 step children and this is now my standard answer.
