What do you all do for work

I have recently had ds4. He is 7 weeks tomorrow. Before I had him o was a self employed Beauty Therapist. So I'm now on maternity allowance until March.

I don't think I want to work in beauty any more and if I do stick with it I need employment as we want to get a mortgage. I plan on going back part time. I would ideally like school hour work. I have worked in nurseries with children although I don't have a qualification I just worked as an assistant. I was thinking about doing an IT skills for employment to try and improve my chances of getting a school admin job. I just want ideas on work/study. I'm struggling to decide.

What do you all do work wise?

I'm a HCA for people with dementia, the only down side is that you need to work evenings, weekends and Xmas. I finished doing a diploma in March and I'm currently trying to study sign language from home whilst on maternity leave

Tsoto wow. You are super mum. I don't mind weekends. Evenings are out here as DH often works away and I've no one to have the children. Dream job would be a midwife or health visitor but without evening work that's impossible.

Did you have a fourth dc recently? I'm sure I've spoken to you on a thread before.

Yes I had dc 4, she's a month old now time flys by. I'd love to be a midwife. I did actually think at one point about going to do my nursing but don't think I will

I am a childminder.

Single parent (my DC are older but I started minding when they were young) I have a mortgage despite being self employed as there is always demand for my work. I work term times only as most of my parents are school teachers. It is hard work BUT I am home for my DC, don't pay for childcare for mine and have most of the holidays with my own.

Down side is having home invaded by others and miss adult company but it works for now.

I miss my original job but there were too many unsociable hours and I have no-one to look after DC...baby sitters run a mile if you tell them there are 4 and the cost is too dear

DH would love to be a stay at home dad but he earns more than what I could. I've had to job offers for salons since I've been on maternity leave and ds is only 12 weeks. But I feel like I've gone as far as I can with it now. Plus I'm mid thirties and whenever I go into salons these days it's young girls.

4dc (12years-9months) and I'm a teaching assistant. Dh works in retail

Could you go into teaching beauty therapy? If you look at FE there are lots of jobs - Im in FE in a different dept but the hair&beauty dept is massive and all the teachers over there always seem really happy. If you get work part time hourly paid (as opposed to ft) you can be quite choosy about hours, work only term times, and it's quite flexible. Pay is around £30 an hour ish.
