Looking for advice / support on having 4 young DC.

I'm in a difficult situation, alone, no family/friends as recently moved to escape DV.

Money is tight as I'm not currently working but I would like to start thinking about part-time work at Easter if I can find a suitable childcare solution. Easier said than done though!

Morning. How did baby sleep? Did you manage to get your radiators painted?

lavent · 05/09/2015 18:07

Sorry for delay I've been having phone charger issues. Bought a new one today anyway and seems fine now Smile
Sleeping a bit better now waking twice between midnight and 6am.

My tooth is playing up again Sad
I was so tired this morning I nearly fell asleep on the sofa! I'm taking ibuprofen and paracetamol which takes the edge off it. Need to find a dentist when the kids are back at school full time.

Glad baby is sleeping better! Sorry about your tooth. Can you ring around to try to get an appointment for in the week when dc are in school? It should be free if your on income support x

mummypig3 · 07/09/2015 13:45

Hi how's your tooth? I hope you can get it sorted this week. Did all the dc start school today?

lavent · 07/09/2015 14:14

Tooth still agony Angry I need to go to dental access centre when I can but it doesn't open until 1.30pm and it's in the city so prob won't be this week....

DS1 went back today, DS2 starts on Wed but not full time until 21st. He's so excited bless him!!!!!!! He saw a couple of friends on the school run today and we went to the park for a bit.

Struggling to stay awake as got zero sleep last night! Going to pop to Boots after school run and see if I can get some stronger painkillers!!

Oh no. Is there no one that can look after dc so you can see the dentist later? When does your 2 year old start?

Wisteria1979 · 07/09/2015 18:49

Oh that's rubbish. Tooth ache is such a horrible one to have, feels like your whole head is throbbing.

I also find that drugs you get off the dentist (co codamol and similar) really dont agree with me so end up with just paracetamol.

On a separate note have you seem the mumsnet tumble dryer test? Worth putting your name in as you get to keep the dryer :)

lavent · 07/09/2015 18:56

I have to call up tomo and arrange settle sessions for the 2yr old so prob start next week.....

No noone to watch them sadly and the time is a bit of an issue as it's a sit and wait system and if it only opens at 1.30 it would be a push to get back for the DC at 3.15 Confused
Might have to speak to SW when she's back off hols...

In the meantime I've got codeine and ibuprofen for 3 days which is taking the edge off. Paracetamol doesn't touch it!

Haven't seen the dryer thing will have a look Star

I hope the social worker can have the dc for you one afternoon so you can get it sorted. Do you think it needs taking out? Glad you have some pain relief now x

lavent · 07/09/2015 20:17

Yes I think it probably does need to come out - During my 3rd pregnancy I suffered with my wisdom teeth and had them all removed under GA shortly after I had the baby - they said then that this tooth would probably need to come out at some point as it was cracked Sad now it's got a massive chunk missing!
Pregnancy really affects my teeth!

How are you feeling? Tooth still as bad or did you manage some sleep?

mummypig3 · 09/09/2015 09:47

Hope the painkillers have you allowed you to get some sleep lavent . Have you spoken to the social worker about going to dentist? Hope you get it sorted soon x

lavent · 09/09/2015 19:37

Hi guys, sorry been quiet been in agony and it's been a bit hectic here.

I saw the dentist today (the refuge support worker sorted it for me in the end Smile) and he put a temporary dressing on the tooth and I've got to go back for a proper filling / root canal in a couple of weeks.
Still having to take strong painkillers but hopefully it will calm down a bit now....
He said it's not infected so no antibiotics. Still bloody painful mind!

mummypig3 · 09/09/2015 20:32

Glad you got to the dentist! Do you have childcare arranged for when you go for your filling? Hope you get some sleep tonight and it settles down til next week Flowers

lavent · 10/09/2015 14:02

Yes it's on a day where I've only got the baby and I've asked my friend from the refuge to have him for an hour Smile
Still on the painkillers but now it is covered it's easier to eat and drink.

mummypig3 · 10/09/2015 16:23

So glad you've got it sorted and no longer in pain. How did you sleep?

lavent · 10/09/2015 16:55

Not sleeping brilliantly it's so painful at night Sad
Just did the tumble dryer form - fingers crossed!

OP posts:
Wisteria1979 · 10/09/2015 18:51

Fingers crossed! Are the pain killers helping?

lavent · 10/09/2015 19:07

They take the edge off yes but nothing seems to take it away completely. It's not as intense today so maybe I'm over the worst now!

OP posts:
lavent · 12/09/2015 09:16

Bloody thing has fallen off my tooth Sad not hurting any more than usual for now so maybe it's not as bad as before. Crossing fingers....!

OP posts:
mummypig3 · 12/09/2015 10:37

Oh no! How long til your appointment? Fingers crossed it's not as bad now x

lavent · 13/09/2015 11:27

Appointment is 1/10 - that's the first one they had though I said to call me if they get a cancellation!

Doing laundry today as got a massive backlog as just not felt like doing anything! Going to take it to the launderette to dry.

Not sure if it's related to my tooth (as same side) or maybe it's bcoz I've been using the sling a lot but I've got awful shoulder pain on the right side. School run should be interesting! Apparently rain is on the way too!

OP posts:
mummypig3 · 13/09/2015 18:13

I must be in sympathy with you because my tooth is hurting today. Rain is on the way! Did you manage to get your washing done?

lavent · 14/09/2015 13:43

Yes got washing done at the launderette - good to get back on track. I always say I won't let it build up again but I always do Blush

Tooth is still very sore but I've got a busy couple of days ahead so just keeping on with the painkillers and eating mainly soup / weetabix!

It's my shoulder now that's bothering me most I'm really not sure what I've done! Could have pulled a muscle when I carried the wardrobe upstairs or could be related to my tooth pain and constantly being tense on that side... Who knows. Hopefully the ibuprofen I'm taking will help that too.

Excited to decorate the living room on Wednesday! Already painted the fireplace and most of the woodwork. Got to do one radiator tonight and another coat for the fireplace I think.

Baby is sleeping quite reliably now between 7/8 and 11 and then wakes at 2 and 5 for feeds. He's taking 7oz now Shock and becoming quite chubby! I've switched to the hungry baby formula on HV suggestion.

OP posts:
mummypig3 · 14/09/2015 14:15

Wow you have been busy! What a little piggy Grin glad he is sleeping better! You probably hurt your shoulder carrying the wardrobe. I hope you had help! Maybe try not to use the sling til it's better
