Looking for advice / support on having 4 young DC.

I'm in a difficult situation, alone, no family/friends as recently moved to escape DV.

Money is tight as I'm not currently working but I would like to start thinking about part-time work at Easter if I can find a suitable childcare solution. Easier said than done though!

oh no poor you!! why can't they extract it - is it hard to get at or something?

never heard of salicylates diet (?) but if it helps to change his behaviour for the better then great! :-)

i've been on a diet change too recently - had been really tired - also long term really bad anxiety and recently heard about and gave up wheat which seems to have helped no end in making me feel better on both fronts - anxiety vanished! tiredness sooo much better. apparently many people are intolerant and it can manifest in other ways that aren't necessarily digestive (like anxiety etc). Weird how altering the diet can make such a change in how you feel.

Hope you're doing ok bearing in mind the tooth issues...!! I'm sure you will get it sorted soon. Maybe social services can help with short term childcare if you need some sedation. Sounds like you might need it...

lavent · 17/10/2015 08:39

Social services have closed my case so they won't help now. I did think of asking my support worker from the refuge to come with me to sit with the baby / offer moral support and make sure it's on a school/nursery day.
Dentist said it's about 8-10 weeks wait anyway so no rush.

The tooth is in an awkward position and even with the antibiotics / loads of local anaesthetic it's really painful when the dentist tries to get it out. I'm also very very nervous which doesn't help!

Very interesting re wheat - maybe I should try it! I really don't feel much less anxious on the anti-depressants or any difference really! The main thing which has helped me is DS3 going to nursery 2.5 days and the boost of seeing the house come together.

ziggyziggy · 17/10/2015 14:12

having someone there when they do take it out is a good idea...just someone to mind baby while the worst of the pain wears off!

yes the wheat thing is interesting isn't it - there's a book called Wheat Belly if you're interested in it (although a lot of the info is on the internet on the guy's website so you probably don't need to buy a book). It's a bit tough at first but you quickly get used to eating other stuff instead.

Glad to hear house is coming together more. It's amazing what a difference it makes to have a home rather than just a place to live.

mummypig3 · 21/10/2015 17:48

Sorry to hear they couldn't take the tooth out. Hope it's not causing you too much pain and you don't have to wait long for your referral x

lavent · 21/10/2015 19:38

Pain is on/off - still got some orajel left when it's really bad!

Not sure if it's a sign I need to seriously lose weight but 3 of the slats on my bed broke last night! BlushBlushBlush So bad! I was sitting on the side putting the baby back in cot and it just snapped!
Luckily I have a spare "shorty" bed which was given to me so need to get that into boys room and one of theirs into mine!

My luck is seriously rotten!

poor you lavent, sounds like you had a bad week.

things will get better... !!! just think in a few months the smallest will be much bigger and things will be a bit easier. you'll have a lot more of the stuff you need and it will ease off a little.

you'll get there! hope the little one is sleeping ok and giving you a bit of rest.

lavent · 28/10/2015 09:42

Thank you :)

Yes as he gets bigger it does get easier you're right. At the moment I can hardly put him down! He doesn't like the buggy and my back/neck is too sore for the sling at the moment.
I'm going to put the big cot together one night this week and see how he sleeps in there.

how's it going lavent? hope all is ok and little one is giving you a bit of peace.

is the tooth any better? Flowers

lavent · 05/11/2015 13:01

Tooth comes and goes.... Ok today - touch wood!!!!

I can't remember who suggested I apply to the British Gas Energy Trust but I did and I got an email today saying a tumble dryer is coming next week! So thank you! I still have a little left on my bill to pay so not sure if that will be cleared too as the email doesn't say. Watch this space!

OP posts:
ziggyziggy · 06/11/2015 15:54

congrats re. getting the grant! thought it would be worth applying. These energy trusts can be pretty good for that kind of thing.

fingers crossed they will clear the bill too.

sounds like things are looking up a bit then in general! keep going you'll get there... :)

hope everything else is ok.

mummypig3 · 06/11/2015 15:57

That's brilliant news about the dryer! Have you got an appointment about taking the tooth out? X

lavent · 06/11/2015 16:28

I was so pleased when I saw the email as it has been about 8 weeks since I applied and I'd virtually given up!

Not heard anything from the referral the dentist made yet though he did say the waiting list was a few months long. Luckily tooth is more off than on at the moment.

How are you holding up? Hope you and the kids are ok.

lavent · 02/12/2015 18:51

Hi Smile
Thanks for checking up on us.
All is well thank you. Preparing for Christmas!
Boys all busy at school and clubs etc.
I've started going to the gym 4 mornings a week and putting the baby in the creche. I really love it and feel better for losing weight. Also major bonus I can have a shower in peace Xmas Grin

Wisteria1979 · 03/12/2015 07:09

That's great! I do the same on the days I don't go to work, and that hour of doing something for yourself if pretty special. Glad you are doing well and that the boys are in a routine. How is the house coming along?

ziggyziggy · 10/12/2015 00:22

hello lavent! long time no speak. missed hearing about things - how are you?

so pleased for you - doing the creche and gym sounds fab. Would love to do the same myself - at the moment don't get the time but I will find it!!

showers in peace - you never realise how much you miss it until you get one again!!

do you need anything right now? are you getting there and house getting sorted?

hoping things are coming together for you.

x

lavent · 10/12/2015 06:12

Morning!

Still going with the gym! Might have to give it a miss today though as DS3 came home early from nursery yesterday with a bit of a temperature.
I am still plodding on with the house all be it slowly what with Christmas. The boys room is now painted and the many, many holes filled and I have bought them some bunk beds so they have more space to play. They arrived at try weekend so need to find the enthusiasm to put them together Grin

I went to the dental anxiety place today and I'm going back in February to try the tooth extraction with gas and air. Fingers crossed that will calm me down enough!

ziggyziggy · 16/12/2015 20:31

oh no! still not out, what a pain.

I'm sure you'll be fine but I know what it's like being a bit scared.

My doctor prescribed me some diazepam for dentist phobia, it was ok but left me a bit woozy... still, seemed to work ok!!

Lavent · 17/12/2015 11:43

I can opt for IV sedation but would need to make arrangements for the DC to be looked after overnight which is problematic so I said I'd prefer to go for G&A!
I am so incredibly anxious about it the dentist said he has not seen someone so anxious for a while and this is a dental anxiety management place Blush he is going to arrange some therapy going forward but also suggested I probably need therapy for my wider anxiety issues which to be fair is true.
I have bitten my lip so badly through stress about that appt its split and looks like I've been punched Confused
I know I should get my act together really I just can't no matter how hard I try!

OP posts:
azimazi · 17/12/2015 17:47

if it's any help i had a wisdom tooth out earlier in the year and it wasn't that bad. The pain at the time of doing it was actually fine, it just hurt after.

what helped me also was CBT for fears / anxiety and phobia, you can get it through the GP.

I would ask your GP for some Diazepam as well though as it might help. They seem willing to do this for this kind of thing...

Wisteria1979 · 18/12/2015 13:50

Sorry your tooth is still playing up. Just came on the thread to wish you and your boys a happy Christmas in your new home, and I hope you get some time to sit back and just think about how much you have achieved in such a short time. You have done amazingly well on your own and I wish you all the very best for 2016. I had wisdom teeth taken out both with and without sedation and the tricky thing I think (I am fine sedated though and recover quickly, some people feel quite sick afterwards) is the few days following the procedure when you need to keep on top of pain and can't eat much. So if you can get some help then with the children I think that would be worth while, and obviously try and avoid half term if it is all within your control!

Lavent · 20/12/2015 12:13

Thank you everyone and thank you for all the help and support you've given me over the last 6 months!

Wishing everyone and their families a very happy Christmas Xmas Smile

lavent · 12/01/2016 21:28

Hello!

All good here thank you! Had a lovely, quiet Christmas and New Year.

Am keeping on target with gym
/ weight loss - it's the only thing that keeps me sane!
