Looking for advice / support on having 4 young DC.

I'm in a difficult situation, alone, no family/friends as recently moved to escape DV.

Money is tight as I'm not currently working but I would like to start thinking about part-time work at Easter if I can find a suitable childcare solution. Easier said than done though!

Not iron on ?? Rather add it on to current.

lavent · 18/08/2015 16:05

Yes social services. Yes they said only last week until the end of the school holidays. They're not very organised though Sad had the same issue last week and nearly ha a breakdown. Maybe the anti-depressants are helping - I've given up on them now I can't ask again it's so degrading.

Oh that's a PITA they don't do that anymore! I was banking on that! I guess I will see when the paperwork comes. As I'm not working and my income is "0" I just get the maximum amount of CTC so I doubt I'll get any more at the end of the year.

Please ask them again or ask your health visitor to. You shouldn't feel degraded. I'm glad the pills are helping. Do you have a friend or neighbour that can take the dc to the park to give you a break for an hour or two

lavent · 18/08/2015 16:55

No I don't have anyone that can do that unfortunately.... My friend who sometimes looks after DS3 might have him for an afternoon later in the week though.

They have been out today though - to Lidl Grin very educational!

Do they like shopping? Mine are terrible for putting crisps and chocolate in the trolly and I end up spending more on junk than actual food Blush much cheaper when they're at school and I've only got the toddler

lavent · 18/08/2015 18:37

They don't mind it - I do normally get it delivered by Morrisons but needed some pull ups and Lidl ones are fab/cheap. Plus trying to be really frugal this week!
I managed to get away with just a 79p bag of Haribo for them to share so not too bad Grin sadly they're very used to "not this week we can't afford it" Blush

Agree lidl and aldi pull ups/nappies are fab. I won't buy any others. Hope the dc go to bed early so you can sort tax credits out

lavent · 18/08/2015 19:14

Phoned TC and apparently it's correct and payments going forward will be the same as today and it has been backdated to the day he was born.
Maybe I worked it out wrong Sad will double check the paperwork when it comes....

Will you be able to manage? Are you getting income support and housing benefits too? It will be cheaper when dc are back at school getting dinners. You won't have to cook everyday. Beans on toast or sandwiches would be fine. How many are in nappies? Just the younger two?

lavent · 18/08/2015 19:33

Yes I'll be ok - just a pain as owe money to my friend for car insurance but can pay half now half next month.
Not even thinking about the brakes but I don't know if front / rear / both so no point worrying yet....

Yes I get full HB (paid direct to HA) and IS though this is currently half normal rate as repaying the budgeting loan.

Yes only youngest 2 in nappies but older 2 wet the bed so wear pull-ups at night still. Luckily they are slim and squeeze into the Lidl size 6.

You're doing a grand job. The blog is a great idea Smile

mummypig3 · 19/08/2015 13:15

Hi lavent how's everyone today? How's baby getting on with the gaviscon? Have ss got back to you?

fabuLou · 19/08/2015 13:32

Yes it will be cheaper once dcs eat at school. They are still little so wont need a second dinner.

lavent · 19/08/2015 15:06

The Gaviscon appears to be helping! Yippee!!! Grin

Yes they have got back to me today and they're sending someone 3 days / week plus Sundays - hope it works out I really need a break.

Also spoke to the doctor this morning and he's increased my dose of anti-ds.

OP posts:
mummypig3 · 19/08/2015 15:09

Thats great news! Will that be for the rest of the holidays now? I'm glad the gaviscon is helping x

lavent · 19/08/2015 15:11

Yes but they said that last week Hmm

Let's hope they stick to it. Do you feel better on the tablets? Are you having any side effects

lavent · 19/08/2015 15:25

I haven't noticed a difference tbh - no side effects though so that's good. I certainly don't feel worse either so that's good.

OP posts:
mummypig3 · 19/08/2015 15:36

Thats good cause some of them can have nasty side effects

AndNowItsSeven · 19/08/2015 17:49

Hi sorry lavent I have been thinking of you but couldn't log in due to resetting password issues.
Glad the nanny issue has been sorted and you are sticking with the anti D's.
Hope you are having better weather and can get outside to the park etc.
It's been bucketing down for days here which is rubbish , it makes the holidays more expensive when the weather is bad.

lavent · 19/08/2015 20:36

Horrible weather this afternoon - is it really August?!
It's meant to be dry tomorrow though and SS have found a nanny to come first thing to give me a break.
I'm going to go and get the car checked out whilst I don't have to take the DC I think.
Hopefully there will still be time for her to take them out somewhere Smile

OP posts:
mummypig3 · 19/08/2015 20:41

Yup it's forecast rain on and off for another week. Fingers crossed the car is ok!

lavent · 19/08/2015 20:47

I hate rain Sad it's chilly tonight too!

I'm already behind on the laundry due to wet beds last night! Got one load on the airer but not drying very quickly.

OP posts:
mummypig3 · 19/08/2015 20:53

Can you put the heating on? Are the pull ups not containing the wee? I know it's difficult with boys. Maybe pop a towel under them when they're asleep

lavent · 19/08/2015 21:01

Daren't put the heating on as will waste gas! Have got a fleece blanket though!

No the pull-ups do leak sometimes especially when I don't buy the larger DryNites. I've got waterproof sheets on the beds but often have to wash the bottom sheets and even duvets if they're wet too! Boys!
I wet the bed myself until I was 11/12 so I never say anything just wash and replace sheets. Eldest strips the bed himself bless him.
