Buying in bulk

Anyone do this? I am so sick of buying toilet rolls, washing powder etc. Does anyone buy these items in bulk. Or I was looking on ebay at buying from there. Then I wouldn't have to negotiate actually going out etc! Anyone got any hints or tips?

We only buy unexciting things that we can't use more of in bulk.

Toilet paper
Cling film
Dishwasher tablets
Bread flour
Pasta sauce. That sort of thing.

I learnt this after the Great Oreo Scoffing incident of 2005.

I,go to Costco. You can save a lot but it's best to go by yourself.

Also, you have to store everything too.

What storage do you have. There is no point buying 200 loo rolls but not have anywhere to put them.

The most important thing about bulk storage is that it has to be dry and with a fairly stable temperature. There's nothing worse than 144 rolls of mildewed loo rolls.

I buy the ecover toilet cleaner in bulk 5 lt containers (I know, exciting!). 4 Dc and 4 loos. I refill the containers and it lasts about a year. I also do this with dishwashing liquid. Ocado is pretty good at this. Otherwise I just buy lots of the one item when it's on sale. Storage is a little bit of an issue. But otherwise it's be too expensive to be buying it all weekly.

I wouldn't buy bulk of food, we would also have an Oreo incident, and she would be totally responsible

We go to Costco and bulk buy toilet rolls, wash tabs, bleach, toilet cleaner, anti bac kitchen wipes. We also buy meat from there and then divide it up and freeze it, although we have a chest freezer. We bulk buy part baked baguettes £2 for about 12. They go in the freezer. Pasta, bologness sauces, tea bags and coffee all bulk bought.

There are only 2 of us but our weekly Tesco shop is usually around £30-£35 of fresh veg. With Costco once a month at about £100 and shopping we spend £250 a month at the most and eat all branded very good food.

Bulk buying will be a bit more expensive until you have built up a stash and then it gets better. I love it but you do need a lot of storage space.

Just ordered a stack of kitchen rolls off group on...

We wait til Sainsburys give us enticing offers of £12 off a £110 shop or whatever, then we stock up on household toilet rolls, shampoo, etc.

But never stock up on sweet things - too many teenagers who eat them and then blame each other, nd my detective skills aren't up to the job of finding the culpret.

Where is the best place to buy washing powder? ATM I buy a big box from Ocardo which does 100+ washes.

Farmfoods does a big box of surf for £9.95 everywhere else I've seen it, it's been £18

I bulk buy where I can, I set myself a weekly budget then the weeks that I'm under like this week I stock up on toiletries, cereals, squash, cleaning products etc but only stuff that's on offer. Once a month I do a farmfoods shop also on stick to budget and stock up both my freezers, get 36 toilet rolls (£7).

Another Costco fan here. Just don't go hungry!

Washing powder! 4kids. I have been trying to track some down. Found fairy (my dh has allergies) at Macro 105 washes for £15.59. But I imagine there are better deals out there? I find fairy quite expensive. How much are you paying?

I was paying about £23 for 7kg of persil, 100 washes. It was on Ocado (convenience shopping) but they don't seem to have it anymore.

There is an online for Makro isn't there? But wondered if you had to order masses of stuff? Convenience is a problem with saving money isn't it. I run out then grab something which is more expensive, hence my drive toward bulk!! Also so sick of buying toilet rolls. I swear they eat those too!!
