I'm excepting my 3rd child, I currently have a 4x4 that fits my 9month old, my 4 year old (in a booster seat) and 2x dogs that can't fit in the back along side a pram and shopping. I love my car but where do I fit ANOTHER baby Shock in my car?

Anyone else that has three children, what car do you have? I remember when I was young (the eldest I just went in the front seat lol. Please don't tell me I have to have one of those family cars, they're like buses I'd never park it, I'm a terrible parker lol xx any advice and experience s welcome! Thank you

A 4x4? That's already a big car surely? How big are your dogs?

Get a smaller pram.
Shop online where possible

Your post made me laugh, one of the mums at school has x3 DCs, she drives a VW Polo! You should be fine in a 4x4...unless its twins? Grin

Hi thanks, do people usually fit 3 car seats in the back? I was worried about the middle seat? I'm clueless sorry I just didn't know if children are allowed to go in the middle seat?

The middle seat is fine now days as has a full seatbelt surely not just a lap belt ( if it's an old car you can get the seatbelt changed for full belt).

Look at babyzen yoyo 0+ pram and a decent sling (ergo/ boba 4g/ manduca). I would assume most the time you use car you aren't going for a full hike so middle child can toddle along/ baby or toddler in sling. Keep main pram at home for long walks

Can you borrow a babyseat from someone & try it out? We had to get a new car to fit number 3 in as there simply wasn't enough room on the backseat to get two booster seats & a babyseat in (Nissan Almera so a bit smaller than a VW Golf). I do know several families that just have the older kid either in the front seat, or in the middle without a carseat (which is legal) but we do a lot of long drives & I am not comfortable with that option.

We had a Peugeot 205 when we had our third child. No probs fitting in the pushchair.

Mommyusedtobecool · 24/06/2015 08:35

I had a fiat panda and 4 kids! Now I have a 4x4 and a mpv too. God I miss that fiat panda!
But my point is I'm sure you'll fit them all in in. The dogs will find it a squash.. But are you going to be able to manage walking two dogs and 3 kids all that the same time?
Maybe take the dogs out separately?

Maffy · 24/06/2015 22:23

We have just had our third child, and have three small dogs. We, along with a pushchair, just about fit in our Nissan X-trail and three car seats do fit in the back.

It is a huge 4x4 and pretty horrid to drive; I hate driving it in town. Most 4x4s are actually hopeless for space when it comes to children and dogs. We looked at a Mitsubishi Outlander as an alternative, as it looks less like a tank, but has less clearance.

It's not as though children need foot-space anyway...

Depending on how big you want to go when we only had 3 kids we ended up with a Nissan navara. They're one of the wider trucks so 3 seats in the back fitted well and there was oodles of room in the back for buggies, shopping and dogs lol. Now expecting baby number 5 and have a Nissan Pathfinder which is so versatile wish we'd bought one sooner

I have a 7 seater, if you can park a 4x4 youcan park a 7 seater, take it thats what you mean?Confused
