Five Children

Hi we have 4 dc and are very happy. We are comfortable mostly but I am 90% certain we are expecting number 5. Number 5 was not planned and we were using birth control, I'm checking with clear blue later but I'm not expecting a negative result.

So is 5 greatly different to 4? We drive a Ford Galaxy it may need to be bigger for boot space but it's ok, we have to move again anyways as the landlord is selling the house this isn't too bad as I can find somewhere bigger, how do holidays work? We usually rent a 6 bed dorm in a hostel but if there are 7 of us where would we holiday cheaply?

I'm usually happy when we've had a baby but this time I'm just scared and anxious it feels like a huge change and may take us out of comfortable and into struggling. Hopefully we can rent somewhere cheaper to keep the balance, I also don't have any baby things as we sold them all and our pushchair needs replaced.

Dc are aged 8, 6, 5 and 2 if theoretical fifth appears they will be 9, 7, 5 and 3, oh help. Mums of five plus it's all ok isn't it.

HelloSmile

I have 5dc -a little different to you in that the first child was not planned but the rest were .

The noticeable difference having a fifth child with us was the car - we already had a 7 seater 4x4 but we couldn't have any extra (with 5 kids +dh+me= no spare seat for friends /relatives ) but of course there is always minibusesSmile

For the first few years would a baby change your holiday plans?I'm not sure as we've always camped.

My children are slightly older 16,12,9,6 & 16 months.

I only have 3dc but my cousin has 5. She felt transition from 3 to 4 was worse. 4 to 5 a breeze although she did have a big gap between 4 and 5. Think she had newborn, 8, 10, 11, 12.
It'll be fine. You'll sort it all out! When is af due? Have you done a test yet? Smile

FoxyJane · 29/05/2015 17:42

Yes no 5 due if my calculations are right sometime Febuary. I'm actually more scared this time than I was with my first.

Thank you for your reassurance I'm sure fingers crossed all will be fine.

Hi and congrats!
I have 5 and have just discovered I'm expecting number 6.
Whilst these numbers sound like a lot, really it is one more than you have already. So of course you'll manage! You're a pro.
Two of my dc are late teens and completely lovely so realistically I only have 3 who need me a lot. They're 11, 5 and 4.
I'm more worried about the reactions of my teens when I tell them I'm having another baby! Grin

Im mother of 5 and tbh my youngest daughter was far the easiest everything just sort of fell into place, there are ways round everything... When I found out I was having her was devestated had all these worries and was anxious for months but everything just fell into place.

Drunkendonut · 31/05/2015 13:54

I agree vodka.
My youngest daughter definitely just slotted in. I have 4 girls though and they all just went into 'mother hen' mode :)

TheRealYellowWiggle · 31/05/2015 14:10

I was number 5 and I think I'm great Grin

Drunken congratulations on number 6.

I guess I just thought I was done, I never planned having children in my 30s and my last birth was my most difficult very fast delivery and I woke up in labour no Brixton hicks no twinges. I think that's my scary bit.

I was also enjoying the dynamic of having a 2.5 yr old, I was starting to get a bit more time for myself. I know very selfish. I'm also scared of having another child with asd, I love my boys but having 2 of my ds having asd is very hard.

But now I know I'm expecting I'm happy, I'm and I'm sure it all will fall into place. I know need to find a bigger place to move to and start saving and generally going to every nearly new sale to get baby things.

Thank you everyone.
