Are we crazy to want more?

DH and I have 3 kids, DS1 (12), DD & DS2 (18mo twins). The house is filled with DS1 and his friends most of the time, twins share a bedroom, we have multiple pets, DH is a SAHD and we just have the one income, probably can't afford to move for another 4-5 years, our relationship got a little rocky through the no-sleep period (but is brilliant again now) and yet, we want more children. Are we completely mad? We both love the idea of a large family (5+ kids) but not sure how we can accomplish that with only one income and a 3 bed house. How do you manage? Any advice for us?

Bump!

I have no idea I'm afraid other than that it must depend so individually on size of the one income and how easily you are happy to share rooms etc.

It sounds lovely to me- we only have 2 DC and I don't have good enough energy to manage more but am still very drawn to the fun and dynamism of bigger families. In the perfect world we'd have another but with a full time cook as then I'd manage ok ??

I only have one DS (8 MO) but am expecting DC2 in November. We have a 3 bed and have no plans to move even if we had the big family we're hoping for. I think room sharing is fine, we may convert the loft eventually as they grow. We have a fairly low income but motherhood seems such a luxury I don't really want for anything. Go for it =)
