Found out in pregnant. My little boy is nearly 9 months and will be about 17 months when baby number 2 is born.
Any experience of this?
Worried about telling work ( I'm still on mat leave and will be back after 12 wk scan).
Did you cope on your own in the day with the two little ones?
Current baby is sleeping through ish, until about half 5 but I'm still a bit worried about the sleep situation.
How did you manage carrying your little one around when you were pregnant?

There's 18 months between my DDs and its ace. They are such good friends.
Its hard work at first, but much easier in the long run because they have the same friends, like doing the same things etc. And their abilities were much the same from about 5ish onwards.

They always had the same bed time and bath time, shared bedtime stories etc.

When they were small I either used to put the baby in sling on my tummy and DD1 in pushchair, or DD1 in backpack and baby in pram.

I have a 13 month gap between dc1 and dc2 (and then 22 months between dc2 and dc3). In my experience it is quite an easy gap - the biggest challenge is facing another pregnancy so soon. Ds1 and dd are extremely close (ds2 - dc3 - as well) and it is very easy to keep them all happy with the same things - days out, activities, tv, everything tends to appeal to them all because they are close in age. There was no jealousy, as ds1 was just 13 months when dd was born and it went over his head - he just accepted her completely. He also still slept a lot and I found I had a lot of time with each of them individually for the first year or so, despite everyone assuming that ds had missed out somehow by us having dd so soon after him . I wouldn't change a thing.

12 month gap here between DS1 and 2 (should've been 14 months, but DS2 was born at 31 weeks).
Yes, v hard work in the first year or 2, but lovely thereafter. And often lovely when they are tiny, just v tiring.

You'll be fine and you will manage because you have to.
Accept as much help as you can.

And just tell your work on your return - it happens.

Get a lightweight double-pram, a sling and a folding single buggy.
With that combination you can pretty much go anywhere.

There is 16 months between mine. Dd now 7months, ds 23 months. I went back to work 5 months pregnant. Dreaded telling them but bit the bullet and got it out as soon as I'd had 12 week scan. Any colleagues with kids should understand.
As for coping, it's not too bad. One advantage is that he older child will be young enough to still be napping a lot during the day themself. For me the trick is to get out the house first thing and give ds a big run around while dd sleeps in the buggy. Home for lunch. Ds, knackered from all the fresh air, has a long sleep. And that's a lot of the day sorted already. I use tv or iPad to keep ds occupied if I need to attend to dd for a bit.
Your 9 month old should be sleeping til later by 17m.
It is hard work but I'm v happy that I have been able to spend so much time with ds, having had mat leaves Lmost back to back. I feel sad that I won't have this with dd

Exactly 2 years between my now ds who's 5 and dd twins at 3..you will be fine hun, its amazing what we can cope with, I'm in a 3 storey as well and can remember propping ds on my bump and lugging him up the stairs for bed when he fell asleep on the settee, I actually recovered better from last c section with the twins than with my son because I was so fit and active through that pregnancy! Kids know how to keep us on our toes!:)

I have 7 children aged 17,15,13,4,3,18months and 8months I am nearly 12 weeks pregnant with baby 8 my ds who is 4 and my dd who is 3 are is the same nursery class which is lovely and they are so close you will be fine us women just have this ability to cope just try and relax and enjoy them because all the work will be so worth it when you sit listening to their conversations.www.awrightlargefamily.blogspot.com
