Dining tables?!

Umming and aahing whether or not to have a fourth DC in the next couple of years.

DC are 5, 2 and 9 months.

Currently we have a table and four chairs (plus highchair) in our rather small kitchen and we wouldn't have room for another chair or a bigger table. We're renting so can't extend or anything. Don't want to move as apart from this the house is perfect!

In theory there is a dining room but we use it as a much needed playroom/second living room and wouldn't want to change this. Also have a utility off the kitchen.

Soooo what to do? Thought of getting a kids' table and chair set for the kitchen but it would be a pain getting it out and putting it away 2/3 times a day... Also this wouldn't work as they got older?

Any ideas? :)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yep! We have children's chairs from ikea. Narrower than high chairs and can sit two in one side. That might help?

You can use benches instead of chairs, that way the children could squeeze up a bit.

Thanks, never thought of a bench! (Mrs negative here!)

Shosha, those chairs look good too! Do you fit 3 next to each other then?

A friend of mine has 6 young dc and quite a small kitchen table. They have two benches running along two sides and some chairs. Works surprisingly well

Ooh I'm excited now, thanks TS!

BeattieBow · 24/09/2013 22:07

we have benches alongside the table - you can fit more children in that way.

So do all the plates fit all along the table?

Or are people constantly bumping elbows Grin
