Three DC - Pushing my luck?

Although also, apologies to the people with proper larger families for my minor worry!

I think I want three DC. We have two dds 3.4yr and 17 months.

I recently had an abortion. Although thats been very hard for many reasons the timing was very wrong and it was unplanned and i was so shocked and scared that i think even in a groundhog day type scenario I'd make the same decision again and again.

Next year wouldnt be such bad timing to get pg again and having recently seen people with three year gaps between dc1 and 2 that looks nice. Easier than my 23 month gap anyway!

Pre the abortion dh and I had agreed to stick at two. He was a definitely no, I was a probably no. We are now in the maybe category with some major reservations. I have some health worries around pg and dh thinks that to have had two good pgs and two healthy children means we are very lucky, would we be lucky again with a third?

So my questions are:

  1. How do I know if this is just about 'making up' for the abortion in some way, have any of you lovely ladies with larger families ever had a termination?
  1. Working with three young dc? I love my career and I am lucky enough to have a flexible working scedule but even then is it possible?
  1. Is a 4 month mat leave which is what I'd be looking at here a heart breaker (have always done 7 months before with a 'soft' reentry.
  1. How do you know what to do???!
