Going camping at the end of August but don't have a tent anymore, so will be buying a new one. We are a family of 7 with 3 adult size dcs.

Would appreciate any recommendations. Don't seem to be many tents big enough. Would consider two separate ones, but it does then cost more for the campsite.

Good price, bags of space and reasonable quality

I would consider 2 tents, you have to pay extra for extra people on your pitch anyway. Also your older dcs might like their own space. The second tent only need be a basic crawl in to sleep in, ie cheap and easy to put up.
I've seen all sorts of set ups on campsites; such as tents linked together by a tarp for eg. Perhaps contact your site and see what they suggest?

We use an Outwell Sun Valley 8. It is comfortable and roomy (you can stand up in the bedrooms) but feels a bit wobbly in a strong wind!

yes depends if the site is charging per pitch or per person.
we have a gelert horizon 8 which is nice and big, but would involve your children sharing (it only has 4 bedrooms)
might be easier to have 2 smaller tents

Outwell Hartford DLP which sleeps 8 in 3 separate pods. You can also buy a front extension to make the living area larger.
Quechua also do a range of tents where you can buy tents and a living space and then connect them all together, which would mean you'd only have to take some of the parts if only half of you were going on a trip one weekend.

We love our Vango Monte Verde - it is MAHOOSIVE and sometimes places can get snippy but we love it. 3 bed pods with an optional 4th , living space split in 2..its the business.

it of course was so expensive we had to sell one of the children* but it will last and last

  • please note this is a joke, the children are all fine

Thank you everyone. Lots to look at now. Like the sound of the convertable tent delayed. Would last us longer, as we have quite an age gap in the middle so won't need a big tent for long. Also like the sound of your tent Queen and we have enough children to sell one for the greater good. Love that you added it was only a joke about selling one.
