Why/how did you decide to have a third ?

And how big is the jump for two to three ?

I have an 8yo dd and a long-awaited second (ds 6mo) . I have now begun to think about a third but it would be a very big decision as it would change a lot . We would definitely news to move before the baby was born and I would be able to go back to uni , being the two biggest things .

So how did you decide a third would be manageable ? Did you already have the room or have to make it ? I didnt find the jump between one and two to be that significant - is it much harder with three ?

I can't speak from experience but I'm in a similar situation. Ds1 is 10 and ds2 is 3 so similar age gaps to yours. We are considering no. 3 now and it's a bit scary as I don't know how much it will change things. We have a 3 bed house so ds2 would have to share a room, trips out and friends round from school I imagine would be harder as there wouldn't be any extra room in the car, and we are for the first time in a long time getting to a good place financially so would mean back to strict budgets and giving up my career ( I wouldn't stay working full time if I had 3).

But for all that I'm thinking how much I want a third, the 2nd was so much easier than the 1st, so surely the 3rd will follow that trend?!

I have 5 children in total and I found going from 2 - 3 to be the hardest jump but I know a lot of people on MN disagree.
My 3rd is actually my high maintenance child although I love her dearly and she amazes me everyday.

DC1 was 6 and DC2 was 19 months when I had DC3. All three are girls.

i had my 2nd when dd1 was 13mths and my 3rd when dd2 was 11months! its a different leap lol routine is alot easier lost but people cope. my mother had 4 under 7 and survived lol. i think there is never a financially right time for kids. the bigger the house the bigger the mess. you have to sacrifice no matter the number but the benefits last a life time :) i am 25 with a bad back, dodgy pelvis, bags under my eyes and a house that rivals a dump but i wouldnt send them back :) would it not be possible to do uni then have third?

DD is 6, DS is 4 and DS2 is 1 and he was a surprise!

I've found it loads easier this time. I think with the first 2 I was soooo worried about what people thought of my parenting, whether they were doing what they were supposed to at the right ages, weighing the right amount, eating the right things and I didn't really enjoy it as much as I should have.

This time I'm obviously older, have managed to raise 2 children through baby and toddler hood and my attitude is now bugger it and bugger what everyone else thinks; I'm doing it my way!

So the outcome is I'm a much more laid back mum, he's a laid back little boy (albeit with a temper at times!) and he just fits in! He has us all twisted round his finger but I'm definitely enjoying parenthood this time more as I feel like a pro!

Note, my neighbours may disagree as they hear me yelling in the mornings to get them all dressed and out to school!

I think we knew we both wanted a large family. We ummed and ahhhd for a while, but decided to go for DC3 when DS1 was 4 and DS2 was 2. So now we have 3 aged 5 and under.

I don't think it was a much bigger jumper than 1 to 2 was to be honest. Just logistically, getting them all in the car etc is more of a performance.

We have a 2 bed house at the moment, although we have a bit more room downstairs.

DC3 is in with us and the older 2 share. We can't afford to move for at least year or so, so we are thinking about turning one of the rooms into a small room and a tiny room for the DC.

I always wanted 3 or even 4 kids, DH was happy with the 2 DS's we had but I wore him down (didn't take too much-he's adamant there'll be no number 4 though!).

Best decision ever-not a huge jump, had the boys relatively close together which was a bit tough, so having our DD 3 years later (when both DS's at school & pre-school) was a bit like having a single child at times.
