How many bedrooms do you have?

Nosey question I know but indeed to move & we are expecting our 5th boy in a couple of months. We currently have a 4 bed town house but rents have gone up by at least £200 so could probably only get a 3 bed. How many bedrooms do others have with how many in each? I think 3 in one & the youngest 2 in another would be fine. Do you think people would rent a 3 bed to a family of 7? Thanks in advance : )

I'm in a 5 bed townhouse. 4 dc now as one has moved out. Housing association.

Currently we have a 3 bed detached well more like 2 1/2bed as the third bedroom is tiny. It's a new build house so all bedrooms small and there's no cupboards.

We have 4 DC and DS who's 2 still shares with us.

We do have plans to build an extension and have 5 bedrooms.

I don't know what's best really large rooms with 2 or more sharing or small rooms not sharing.

I'm like Sweet a new build so a 2 1/2 rather than a 3 bed. Number 4 due later this year so will have 3 sharing in one room and the eldest in the tiny box room. A useful thing we've found on ebay is triple 'bunk' beds so you don't actually have any more room taken up once they are in a bed, hubby is going to make ours out of metal.

Complete nightmare but this house is really small anyway!

We have 4 ds and a 2.5 bed house. We are planning on extending at some stage but will probably end up with triple bunks (ds4 is still in with us at the mo)

I have 4 dds and i have 3 bedrooms, 2 girls in one room, 2 girls in another and me & dh in the other.

For us 3 beds would be ok if they were decent sized and had decent storage space. DS could share with DD2 who's a boy anyway until she's about 10.

I spend my whole life decluttering and we still don't have enough space.

We have 5 dc and 6 bedrooms although one is a converted garage downstairs (16 year old ds) and my mum lives with us too. Currently everyone has their own room apart from dd4 who is 15m and shares with us. We'll probably put dd3 and dd4 in together eventually but neither sleeps very well so we arewaiting A little while.

Having dc4. 3 bedrooms and one bathroom. No room to extend as we are listed. 2 double rooms one single. Lots of living space though so will just have bedrooms for sleeping.

5dc here, 4 boys and one girl in a 3 bedroom house, ds1 and ds2 share, ds3 and ds4 share and dd is in with us (19mths and co sleeps) in a bit we will probably jiggle the rooms around so we have ds3 and ds4'ss room and they move into our room and have dd with them as well, its big so plenty of space.

we would like to do a loft conversion in a few years, but am happy for dd to share for a good few years. had no 5 been a boy (as i thought she would be!) then the loft conversion wouldnt have necessarily been needed. and it will depend on what age the elder ones move out ie if they go to uni etc.

so i think 5 can be fine i a 3 bedroom, does depend on the size of the rooms tho.

% kids (2 of them adult) in a 2.5 bed council house. DS1 & 2 in bed1, DS3&4 (15, 10) in bed2, DD(12) in tiny back bedroom. DH and I on sofa bed in dinette. Not great but we manage. Bunk beds galore in here. DD has one of those high sleepers with wardrobe, drawers etc. underneath because there is no room for a bed and furniture in her room.

3DC (2DDs 1DS) in a 2 bed house. We have the DCs in a triple bunk (best purchase ever!) at the moment, but will break ground for the extension by the end of this year. We will then have a 4 bed two bath. Can't wait!

3dc (2ds, 1dd) in a 2 bed at the moment. They all share - it's lovely - but they are still very little! We want to convert the loft next year, which will give us a nice big room - eventual plan for dd to have her own room and boys to share, but will probably keep them sharing for a while and let them have the extra room as a den/playroom.

We might actually start our extension this year, eventually all DC will have a room of their own so 5 bedrooms, 1 downstairs though.

4br new build here. 3 'double' bedrooms and a box room. However, double bedrooms don't easily accommodate two single beds, which is kind of annoying. Dd1 and 2 share, dd3 in cot in box room. Dd4 in with us but will eventually move into with dd3 when both in cot/toddler beds. We will then (if I am feeling brave) move into the 'master' bedroom on the middle level. Although our house is only ten yrs old, the use of space is so very very poor. We've knocked down a few walls already, but it is a reasonably big house that lets itself down by ridiculous planning.

5 dc here and 4 bedrooms. Ds1 on his own, dss1 and dss2 share, dd1 and dd2 share as well. We have room to extend for a 5th bedroom if needed but not bothered at the moment. Our last house was a 3 bed and the 3 boys were in together. It wasn't so much that it was cramped but they would wake each other up at ridiculous o' clock and make so much noise, the neighbours weren't happy! Now we have to wake them up and we only moved a year ago so seperating them has been positive for us.

5 kids here, 3 boys and 2 girls (2 sets of twins) we have a 3 bed but 2 huge bedrooms and one double bedroom so all 3 boys share and the girls now share - if needed we will go into the small room so more kids crap can go upstairs!

Sorry to hear that :( wee ones all good thanks DS is 2 now. Haven't been down where you are for a few months now, was down the beach one windswept day the kids loved it, I was freezing.

I have 5 dc and 5 dsc. We have 6 permanently, 5 ds and one dd living with us. But we have to cater for dsc when they visit. We now have 5 bedrooms and rent privately. Its also a town house that works really well for large family as plenty of bathrooms. Everyone shares. Dd has basically her own room quite large that she shares with dsd every wkd. Older teenage Boys have a room on their own with a sofa in it, that anyone needing a bed ends up on. Younger ds x2 share they are 9 and 5 and little mini ds has his own room currently.

We did manage 4 dc in a tiny 3 bed house once and it was fine. Bunkbeds were essential. But when dsc were there more often a larger house was imperative.

Can i just ask. Why do people need big houses and a room for each child? We had 6 in a room and was not a problem at all. I actually enjoyed sharing with my sisters.

i dont htink that is what people on this thread are saying wildworld most of us has children that share, we have two boys each to a bedroom and dd the littlest one in with us, at some point we will jiggle things around, i dont see a bedroom each as essential, but tho our rooms will fit 2 or 3 children fine they wouldnt fit six!

Some of the comments came across as that. Some saying they wanted extentions others coming across as unhappy coz their kids share. This was the impression i got from the thread.

I think it is lovely to share bedrooms when small. With 4dds, I have no problem with them all sharing. I guess in my mind though, when they are old enough to want their own room, I'd love to be able to give them one. I think this would roughly be when each starts secondary school. Why? I guess growing up in a big family is slightly chaotic and I would like to give them all their own space and privacy. If this means carving up v small rooms from bigger rooms, then
I will plan to do so. I also think that our children will need to live with us for longer due to the cost of housing in the future, so it kinda covers that also. I grew up sharing till I was 21. To be honest, I hated it. Was completing thesis for uni while sharing with a 5 year old (a very lovely five year old) but I felt like I never had space of my own. That being is aid, if they wanted to continue sharing, I'd be happy with that also. When I finally moved out of home, one of my biggest problems was getting used to being alone. It took years. Would like to give them that opportunity also. I was one of five children, so I guess my experience informs my outlook on this.

We have 5 bedroom, 4 DC.

We converted the loft into 2 smaller rooms so that DS's could have their own room, but they keep sneaking into each others room at bed time, and end up sharing in either bedroom every night

But I think it was worth the mess & money to have the loft converted as the boys have the option of their own space if they want it.
