i have 4 dc.since dd2 was tiny has always got up at silly oclock and refuses to even try and resettle...
fast forward to present time.she will be 8 in 2 weeks and nothings changed except has 6yo brother and 4yo sister who wakes when she is up.
ds has also learned to do the sameSad
ive reached end my tether for kids marauding before 5.30
they are all in bed by 7.30-later nights dont change wake up times just make them grumpy through lack sleep
last summer i had a 3.30 start a couple of times and i cant do it anymore.
they are of an age surely to be quiet and let each other sleep to a civilized hour
dd2 and 3 share a room
please, please help me.ive been getting up at 5 or earlier for so long i can no longer stay awake after 9.30so feels like i dont get any time out

Well in our house 5:30 am is the middle of the night and everyone is shooed back to bed quickly and fiercely.

But as your dd is 8 ( did I understand your OP correctly?) then perhaps you could try some kind of reward chart type thing.
I think it may be unfair to expect her to sleep if she is naturally awake but it is definitely fair to expect her to remain quiet and not wake her siblings. My dd also 8 had a tiny reading light and will read to herself while the others are sleeping.

My only other suggestion is to teach her to fetch you a brew every 30 minutes. Grin

Forgot to add- I have a bedside clock which the older dcs know that if it doesn't start with 7 then go back to bed.

unfortunately dd2 delights in telling me the time when i open my eyes in darkness and ask WTF the timeSad

will attempt reward chart for reading/play quietly

loving the 30min Brew ideaGrin

My 7 year old is an early riser but knows not to wake anyone else or there will be trouble, she goes downstairs and watches tv/has breakfast until we get up.

Forgot to add my clock is digital so they know to look at the first number and if 5 or 6 or heaven forbid anything earlier then back to bed.
Also Tv stays off til 7am whatever.

Good luck.
