Just felt the need to share. Plan was to wait till end of the yr but we have lost self control too excited to wait any longer

How exciting! I'm hoping to start for number 4 in the next couple of weeks. Just a small matter of a thesis to finish first.

Mmm not sure either that or anothercurrantbun. What do you have already? We have 2dds then a ds they are just 5 just 3 and 15month so if I conceive quickly will be a mad house.

I've got 3 lovely boys, each just turned 7, 5 and 1.

I had planned to finish my thesis before having number 3, but I had to take a few months off to care for my husband who was very ill early in my pregnancy, so that put it back a bit.

Still, I'm about to go and hand the beast in, so he better watch out when I get home.

I've just had the faintest pink line on number 4. And ordered 10 cheapy eBay tests so I can hopefully enjoy seeing it again and again .

My thesis is a long chalk from being submitted, so I'm a bit terrified about telling my supervisor!

I submitted mine TODAY (fanfare) but my husband is currently painting the bathroom wearing nothing but pants and socks and shoes. It's like reverse porn.

I'm 2 years through. It's all going OK - but I do already stick out a bit having 3 kids in a department of childless people.

I doubt 4 will be very different to 3 in the medium term - and very excited on a personal level - but it'd be if I felt I 'disappointed' people who took a chance on me. Tbh -been working like a blue arsed fly trying to get enough material under me to allow some 'cruise control' time with DC4.

Have you done field work Footprints? Are you doing that sort of Phd? I had just come to the end of mine when I got pg with ds3, which was a relief as shadowing emergency services pg would have been a nightmare!

I'm surrounded in my office by 25 year old boys. Not men, boys. I think I serve a useful contraceptive function! Presumably you started with 3? I started mine with 2, and had hoped to get it all done.

I'm sure you know this about yourself, but I find a lot of the mundane baby time (pram pushing, swing pushing, midnight pacing) a really good opportunity to think through my work, and when I do get in to the office, my ideas are quite well formed. I'm sure you'll have plenty to keep you going!

No field work no lab work - it's actually a joy for flexible working.

Tbh - I'm mainly concerned for my productivity while pregnant. The tiredness, the sickness, the medical appointments - and always not wanting to stress yourself in case it leads to more tiredness/sickness/medical appointments. I intend to write up on mat leave.

I was def less productive when pg, but then I was less busy with other stuff too, so possibly made up for it. Phd's aren't a race, and I think mine has benefited from me having time away in the middle.

And of course yourself. :). I was really desperate to go back to uni last yr but unfortunately I have no family close by to help with childcare so it just want viable. Well actually mIl lives close by but not a keen babysitter. So my job is mum :)

I keep trying to stop working 3CB, but something always comes up! I really wanted to stay at home with DS3, but I had to take time off from my work when my husband was ill, which meant I had to finish when DS3 was little. Now I've done that, other little dribs and drabs keep coming in which sound interesting, or I'm doing for a favour, or for a bit of cash, and they sort of gain momentum.

Being a mum is the most important job in the world!

Also, lots of unis have subsidised childcare if you go as an undergrad (nothing for post grads!) because they'll have widening access requirements. You might be better off looking at ex-poly type unis (like Sheffield Hallam, Nottingham Trent, Manchester Met) rather than the sort named after the city iyswim. They tend to be more welcoming to people who aren't just school leavers and aged 18. You'll have plenty of time once your kids start school etc.

Footprints: my acknowledgements is all about my child minder, friends and school and nursery staff. Academics hardly get a look in!

Aww button I LOVE birth announcements. Was hoping to her from you soon sounds like a perfect little family. Hope all went well? And you are recovering well? Did you know what you were having. Been I tough afternoon tip pm but not enough to put me off lol. That is the first week of the summer holidays down and think dd1 and 2 were very tired this pm after a busy week so far.

As far as uni goes it was midwifery I was hoping to study but It's pretty much full time working hours either in the classroom or placement plus an hours travel to and from uni so just not viable atm too much time away from dcs and Just impossible to do atm tbh. I get torn between things I really would love to do and being a full time mummy as can't bare being away from them for long even though view do drive me mad bt times

I'm doing really well, thanks. I would say that although he was the biggest baby of the 4, he caused the least damage. If it's the kind of thing you're interested in, I put the whole birth story on our antenatal thread - 'I'm a July baby - get me out of here'. There's another couple of new mums of 4 on there (Nicola and Pesha) and (I think) someone with 5 who posts occasionally. Might be worth following our gripes and moans over the next few weeks

Been for a peak its quite funny has I only said last night while watching one born USA that I'm quite tempted to have an epidural next time even though I've not had one yet. Was it as good as it looks lol. Mind you if it follows the same path as the last 3 spec wouldn't have time. Glad all is well do have a busy summer holidays I know you've said before but can't remember the ages of your other children.

We were planning to wait to conceive dc4 till later this yr so he or she would arrive after next summer holidays meaning that I wouldn't be flung into having four and all of them at home full time for 6weeks also dc2 starts school next September well that plan has gone out of the window hope I don't live to regret not waiting a few months.

Any further developments sobloodystupid?
