where so you go on holiday in the uk?

Got four kids and would love to go away in August. Have you visited anywhere in the UK that you would recommend for families. Been to Butlins in BOgnor Regis. It was brilliant.

Had anyone tried Hoseasons?

Would love to hear where larger families go.

We have 3 and usually get a cottage which works out cheaper than a holiday park (unless you do a deal one)

We just came back from a week at Butlins and whilst it was great and the 3 dc's had a ball it would probably be cheaper to go abroad (taking into account what you spend whilst there)

Centre Parcs
Haven have some good caravan sites similair to butlins but on smaller scale
Private cottages are usually good for larger families and cheaper if you sc
Have you tried camping , gets us away for next to nothing a few weekends through the year

WE just hire a cottage - we have been to wells-next-the-sea in Norfolk - fab fab fab ... north devon, cornwall and this year we are off to Swanage. We also love the lakes ... we try and take my parents too (to have the kids in the mornings and evenings :) )

I can second wells next the sea in Norfolk too... is really, really lovely!

pembrokeshire is fab, beautiful beaches.

we're off to Suffolk in half term, and up to Scotland during the summer (camping)

Pembrokeshire is beautiful and it has Oakwood theme park and Folly farm for the kids aswell as unbelievable beaches

After a couple of very challenging journeys to Cornwall (8 hours) we decided to get out the map and draw a radius around where we live and look for somewhere within there. Doing this we have found some fabulous places literally on our doorstep!!

Our last hol was camping with another family so there were 9 children and we stayed on a farm. Our children helped collected the eggs in the morning, fed the animals, tucked them in at night, my dd even got to go on a boat to the island when a duck got into difficulties. It cost £50 for the week to camp. There was a field designated for games. The farmer put a net up and goal posts. We played rounders, badmington, football, cricket. There was a log cabin which was left open with toilets, cooker, water, kettle etc just in case of emergencies.

It was a wonderful break and we could have been anywhere. What struck me was as long as you have family and friends (and its not raining) it really doesn't matter where you are.
