Anyone's partner work away with 4 children ?

My husband has been offered a job in the SW we are in the NW at the moment, I moved here from the midlands 7 years ago and am literally just at the stage where I have friends, people I could call on in an emergency that sort of thing and I'm not sure I can face the move.
DH has got to take the job, it's the first one he's been offered in 2 years.
Does anyone else cope - are you super organised, what's the secrete ?

My DH works abroad a lot, although not every week. I don't find it too bad in the week as we have always just got on with things even when he's in the country. The tricky bits are school things in the evening (when one or more are in bed) and when the children are unwell, but if you have a good support network of people you can ask to help out, then it's definitely manageable. In my DH's old job he was always home after most of the children were in bed so in that sense it makes little difference.

We use skype a lot and text a fair bit as the thing I find hardest is not being able to talk things through that crop up in the day or discuss things that are said at parents evenings and stuff like that.

Other people think I'm very organised, but I just think I muddle through!

Do you think there may be some opportunities for working home at all once he's settled in? Say one day a week (fri/mon)? That can make a lot of difference.

Having said all that, I LOVE the SW and would move there like a shot if given the chance!

He will have an admin day which will be the Friday I imagine.

I think I'd better go with him, the children would miss him too much.

Not sure what age your children are, but I know my DS1 misses DH a lot when he's away. If you do decide to make the move, you will quickly make new friends, especially having already done it once. Having children always makes meeting people easier I think.
