I know this wont suit everyones budget but just passing on my experience of clothes for dc. Have 4 boys 8,6,4,2 and 1 girl 1. Anyway because the boys have all been close in age really handy for passing clothes down. I've just done a huge clearout and passed on lots of boys clothes to a friend. Some outfits and little coats are 8 years old and worn by all 4 boys and were still in great condition. Catamini, Miniman, Marese stuff. Was in a position to buy these brands at the start dd wont be getting as expensive stuff! If you have dc the same gender its worthwhile looking out for these makes.

Thats a good tip - I look for GAP and mini boden in the nearly new sales, I have 3 boys (4, 3, 1) and so far even though they are second hand clothes to start with they have lasted all 3 of them.
I have bought Regatta coats for school coats as well and they look like they'll pass down well.
I'd still love to find good quality trousers that last when they get older, now ds1 is in clothes a lot longer I'm finding that the knees are going on his trousers so no hope of passing them on without patches, oh and good quality school uniform? I opted for Marks and Spensers but so far I'm not that impressed with their trousers either, they are going white at the knees....

Am currently dressing ds4 (9 months) in stuff all his brothers have worn - have not kept everything but have a good supply to keep us going up until he is 3 - most of it is from h&m, Next, M&S and tescos- and is 12 years old -(it was all in the loft waiting for me to get time to sort it out).
