... by Jeremy Hunt and the £26k cap on benefits? Me and DH have always worked, with 5 kids, and only receive child benefit. But now my job (in public sector) is under threat with 1/3 cuts coming as a result of the spending review and the benefits will be capped so I'm worried. We didn't plan to have a large family, but are doing the best we can after an unplanned multiple birth. The media and political savagery on large families has really taken me by surprise. It's upsetting that there is no consideration of multiple births or changed circumstance, just criticism of people's choices.

There has been plenty of discussion about this on the Tamba boards, The extra costs of twins has surprised me despite the fact I had 4 children previously, I still needed to buy another, cot, highchair etc. For those who have triplets and more the costs must be horrendous.
The press never tend to be interested in the larger families that support themselves though, and plenty of people make assumptions, My DH was asked on several occasions was he going to give up working when we found out number 5 was actually 5&6.
