I said Kaddish today, after the Reform practice, for the victims of the pogrom of 7 October 2023.
And it stirred a memory of the Hassidic melody from my childhood. I tracked it down and it reminded me of the purpose of the Kaddish: acceptance of loss and determination to face forward towards building the future.
