A modern Jewish novel

I read a novel, American, probably late 20th century, possible 21st century, about a group of women in a Jewish community. Definitely not in New York or Hassidic. Modern Orthodox, I think. There was a character, either a convert or a Jewish woman who became more orthodox after marrying into the community, who kept a treif spoon buried in her garage freezer so that she could secretly eat shrimps from time to time.

Does this ring any bells?

Sounds familiar. It’s probably on my bookshelves somewhere. Thanks.
