Tracking antisemitism 2

continuing on from the last thread which morphed from a discussion about antisemitism to tracking it globally.

I’ve probably missed people out

to start off with something positive - this was a few yeshiva students response to antisemitism ❤️🕎

“Three Jewish college students from NJ were dancing at Denver International Airport. They said they were motivated to do this after the mass shooting in Australia: “We will not be scared or give in to the darkness, we will only add more and more light.” Happy Hanukkah!”

they’re playing my favourite zusha chanuka song, and one of them looks like DHs nephew who lives in America! Had to do a double take and check it wasn’t him!😆

That’s so horrifying - both the ambulance fires but also that an “artist” has an exhibition like that supported by a council. Labour has lost its mind. And all for electoral support from Muslim voters - but surely there must have been a way to gain their support over the Tories without reaching for blatant antisemitism?

Pudmyboy · 23/03/2026 09:24

That is horrific and sad, but as a comment said, not unexpected. What an utter disgrace.
Sending solidarity to the Jewish community from a secular non-Jew xx

PurpleThistle7 · 23/03/2026 09:35

Why do I keep arguing with strangers on these awful posts about things like this? Something truly wrong with me - it's like I think I can rationalise people out of hatred. But if I give up thinking that, then what?

This is genuinely so depressing. I think the sheer stupidity of this one is really hitting me. Destroying ambulances?? What on earth does that achieve?

I know, it feels equal measures pointless and important to keep going though. Giving up seems dangerous but continuing is heartbreaking.

Diamond82 · 23/03/2026 11:07

Absolutely heartbreaking about the ambulances. I don’t live in the area but I have family that do and have heard a lot about the amazing work they do.
I started to read through the AIBU thread, only the beginning - hope it doesn’t turn nasty like they often do but generally seems to be a lot of outrage.
I’ve donated and sent round to my family.

EllaDisenchanted · 23/03/2026 11:17

I don’t know if you’re allowed to post charity appeals on Mumsnet, so I won’t put the link unless someone can confirm it’s allowed, but for anyone interested Hatzola have started an emergency appeal to rebuild what was lost. The campaign is on charity extra.

I didn’t know there was an Aibu thread. Is there any point looking or is it enraging as usual?

I donated this morning to their general fund - am sure it will all go to whatever is needed. I hope they aren't feeling discouraged today.

It's actually getting worse as it goes on - I'd avoid. I am too into it now to step away but it's not helping me at all.

The worst poster has had almost all comments deleted but there are still a few utterly depressing ones on there. Most posters seem to be on the right side of it though, just a couple of very vocal posters who can't seem to stop themselves from trying to find a context for it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Found it and can see you posted a link @Humdingerydoo

So here is the link for the emergency crisis appeal to replace the ambulances

4 Hatzola ambulances set on fire in London. This is a car crash in slow motion, rapidly gathering speed. I can't stand seeing this :(

'suspected' antisemitic hate crime BBC? Come on, what other reason in this climate for targeting Jewish private ambulances.
These are funded by the community and take so much to fundraise for them. And they help anyone in need, contrary to the vitriol that's spewed about them being exclusive.

That is appalling. I'm so sorry.

Will donate. I was pleased to read on the BBC live feed that the government has already loaned ambulances and will fund the replacement vehicles.

Comedycook · 23/03/2026 12:22

Awful news...I will donate too.

I really must keep off social media....the comments are really getting to me. One comment I saw on Facebook, some idiot was saying that Jews get priority with standard NHS ambulances... I really must tell my sister who was told by the ambulance service that she should call a cab. She should have mentioned she was Jewish to the 999 operator 🙄

Whydontyoucarryon · 23/03/2026 14:09

Just awful...

OrangeAxolotyl · 23/03/2026 14:38

I've donated because someone put the link on the aibu thread.
It's horrifying and distressing. I can't imagine how anyone would destroy ambulances. These people are so full of hatred, it's terrifying.

Yes as normal/.

Started off well and then 'whatabout' and 'well, 'cos'.

OrangeAxolotyl · 23/03/2026 14:51

That's because there always has to be victim blaming. Somehow, the Jews are at fault and are responsible. It's a constant refrain. Even with those who condemn it.
Oh and they're blaming Reform.
I read a couple of the deleted posts. Chilling.

We are allowed to post appeals fundraising for registered charities only. I have posted the link on the charities noticeboard.

I'll go and donate.
I don't feel that there is anything else that I can do.
It's totally sickening.

Nosejobnelly · 23/03/2026 16:52

I was horrified waking up to the news about Hatzola - I live about 2 miles from Golders so it really feels so close. I used to feel like I lived in a bit of a NW London bubble, but that’s totally burst now.
The vitriol on SM is disgusting - idk why I’m even looking tbh. I’ve donated to Hatzolah now & I hear the govt are going to replace the ambulances.

Lindos1 · 23/03/2026 18:15

Any ideas about what non-Jewish people can do to support Jewish people/communities in the UK.
Absolutely sick of it.
We know from history that playing nice/ keeping heads down/hoping things get better doesn't have a great success rate.
I'm watching this unfold feeling evermore angry about what is happening in this country, but feel quite paralysed as to know what to do.
