I woke up to the awful news in Bondi, but that has guven me even more of a reason to celebrate today, the festival of our resilience.

PS my 6yo is obsessed with the Hanukkah playlist on Spotify, every time he asks to listen to it I smile inside.

I'm not Jewish but stopping by to offer my support and outrage at yet another anti-semitic attack. Truly awful.

I recently have been studying the Maccabees and it's a truly inspirational piece of history. Love those PJs! 💕

Not Jewish but stopping by to express my solidarity. May the lights of Chanukah shine even more brightly in this darkness.

I am not Jewish either, but am heartsick at the cruelty of yet another attack on innocent Jews, made even worse by it being a time of celebration. My sympathy and solidarity.

I am prepping my son’s Chanukah presentation for his school and icing cookies. And feeling sick to my stomach.

Every yom tov, every holiday. It never ends.
I'm going to paste a smile on soon for the kids, we're going to light candles and sing, and go to a local chabad event in the big park near us.

I don't know the Chanuka playlist on spotify, but if you haven't heard it, maccabeats brought out HanuKPop, and outdid themselves.

They’re edible markers - I can’t ice properly either! Just chucked some blue icing on them and wrote on top.

I know! My very first thought was “we’re not safe, we’ll never be safe”. I have cried on and off today, but at the same time I’ve felt today more than ever we should stand our, after all that’s what Hanukkah is all about.

Heading to our community Chanukah party shortly. Am half terrified and half filled with rage and determination. Not sure which emotion is winning

we went to the local event, they threw chocolate gelt out of a fire engine, which we missed, although someone saved our kids some coins and then they gave out doughnuts. Very fresh and soft 😋

Just wanted to say how appalled I am by today’s shootings in Australia.
I wish l knew how to find my local - or nearest -synagogue so I could take some flowers.
It’s time these pro ‘Palestine’ marches were stopped or at least contained (eg in Hyde park). They are simply an excuse to stir up anti semitism now. Im sick of seeing loads of police there who do NOTHING to stop evil chants/signs when they should be doing their job. It’s disgraceful the way they have been allowed to carry on.
Its time the people in the UK stood up for Jewish people rather than sodding terrorists,

Had 20 kids and double the adults at our wee Chanukah party. Was lovely and comforting. My son had too many donuts as is correct lol

Yes, we have one candle (the shamash ) to light like the candle each night. Every night we add one candle to the mix , so tomorrow there will be 3 (shamash + 2)

Each year we say may the light expunge the darknes. Sadly this year we need even more light. Awful news from Sydney. May they rest in peace. 💔

Though I am not Jewish, I am so saddened and sickened over the brutality of yet another attack on the Jewish community, especially during what should have been a time of joy. I offer my deepest sympathy and stand in solidarity.

Hope everyone’s eighth night was lovely. Eating the last of the sufganiyot and drinking tea, hoping against hope that next year we can celebrate the holidays together without some horrible atrocity overshadowing it all. I love your Hanukkah jumper and your tiny lizard hat @PurpleThistle7 ! I have a similarly loud and knitted Hanukkah jumper (not quite as wonderful as yours) and my kid got an LED make it yourself menorah this year which we have loved.

That was us celebrating the last night. For some reason it made me feel very melancholic

I actually felt odd too. I found the joy at times but mostly it was fuelled by anger which isn’t really the right thing. Am just so fed up.

my daughter made the challanukiah this year which was lovely. Nice to see things going on to the next generation.
