Hi all
Just checking in and sending support out to you all. It's been a rough time and I'm really feeling it this week. How are you all doing?

I’m not feeling great right now… especially after stepping into CIME again. It feels like this is never going to end. I went to my town centre on the weekend and although I was so nervous about going in I am pleased to report that I didn’t notice anything antisemtic. However it was a Saturday evening. I can’t face going to my home town which is a while away as the free Palestine flags are flying and are being used as a weapon of terror.

Beachtastic · 23/07/2025 19:44

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this. I'm trying to voice some concern on CITME but it falls on deaf ears. Please know that you have plenty of support outside MN and the idiots who like to "virtue signal" 🤦🏻‍♀️

BakedAlaska12 · 23/07/2025 20:19

Also sorry @PurpleThistle7 thag you’ve had a rough week. I hope things turn around soon.

MyBeloved · 23/07/2025 23:22

I'm starting to feel increasingly concerned. It's like we are in a nightmare. Is this what it felt like in 1930s Germany?

Voxon · 23/07/2025 23:37

I'm not Jewish but stumbled over here to check in on you and let you know there's many people who are disgusted by what's going on and doing our best to speak up.

I agree...I think things are getting worse and worse. It's quite terrifying.

PurpleThistle7 · 24/07/2025 10:37

Am trying very hard to live my life but I’m super edgy. I have my daughter’s bat mitzvah later this year and I’m honestly wondering if I should be concerned about being too obvious about it. My cousin in the states hired security for her son’s party and I don’t think I need that but I can’t stop this tiny little voice reminding me to be vigilant.

I don’t even know what I’m saying but it’s starting to feel more uncomfortable somehow.

Thanks for checking in.

Pretty rubbish here, not going to lie.

I was doxxed and cyberstalked last week, leading to my publisher receiving an email saying she shouldn’t publish my book because I’m a Zionist. She’s one too, so she told him where to go, but it feels like only the beginning of something sinister.

BeretInParis · 25/07/2025 00:53

I’m sorry to read that everyone feels as concerned as I do. Reading the thread about the lady who’d experienced two antisemitic incidents this month gave me the rage. Firstly, I’m sorry I can’t recall her name to check she’s ok (because that thread became brutal) and secondly, the hostility and ignorance was breathtaking. I’m deeply disturbed by how people don’t know the definitions of words like Zionist and genocide and how the anti-Israel narrative has been taken as gospel. The outright lies that are propagated as truth are so damaging.

stomachamelon · 25/07/2025 23:15

@PurpleChrayn i am really sorry that happened to you.
I am down and see things sliding. Even the more reasonable now name call and make belittling comments.
on a positive note we do Jewish history walks locally and they are well attended and largely left alone (few keyboard warriors) no one in person.

SimchaRaba · 26/07/2025 01:11

@PurpleThistle7 Mazal Tov on the BM.
I'm so sorry to hear of all this worry. Thank you to the posters who show support. It means so much.

GentleSheep · 26/07/2025 02:19

Just wanted to pop in here, I'm not Jewish but am very concerned at what I am seeing over on 'that' board and indeed elsewhere. So many posters just yelling and screaming with such hate and vitriol. No matter what is offered in different opinions, it's all shot down, and often with personal attacks.

My Christian beliefs tell me that God loves His people Israel and that will never end. That's certainly good enough for me. I wish you all well.

EllaDisenchanted · 26/07/2025 23:05

It’s looking pretty bad. I don’t think many of us bother with CITME or even threads on anti semitism any more- what’s the point? I basically stopped updating the antisemitism thread a long time ago, apart from this week, because there was one incident I can’t get out of my head.
i wish there was a hug reaction, sending big big hugs to all of you.
Mazel Tov @PurpleThistle7 are you doing something in shul? If so, would there not be security already?
@SimchaRaba i like your username!

MovingBird123 · 27/07/2025 18:37

It's utterly depressing. Suddenly the family (Iraqis who lived through the Farhud, not all survived the Farhud) motto of "enjoy every moment" takes on a new meaning.

Cycling between taking pleasure in the small things and about 5 dips of depression every day. Luckily I'm in the thick of intense potty training, so haven't needed to leave the house and engage with any morons for a few days.

So nice to see glimmers of sensibility and support. Not to be underestimated. Thank you.

PurpleThistle7 · 27/07/2025 22:20

@EllaDisenchanted- my synagogue is teeny tiny so no security specifically but we keep doors locked. I don’t logically think there’s a threat but every month is worse than the one before so who knows. It’s been a crazy couple of years.

we had a volunteer security rotation when I was a kid at shul. Literally just one of the men standing at the front keeping an eye out and then they’d swap. Would that be a possibility?
If the shul is so small, it’s hopefully not needed, but might set your mind at ease?

Yes. I will set this up for sure. Thanks :)

Hi all. I’m feeling low today. Western countries rewarding terrorism by recognising ’Palestine’ as a state. It really fucking shouldn’t be now. Or any time soon, to be frank. Grr.

Agree... disappointing for sure

Towerofsong · 30/07/2025 19:10

Starmers announcement is so disappointing, and I have no good words to say about him. However most Jewish sites are repeating that he expects Israel to make all the concessions, however in his statement he did also say that he expects Hamas to release the hostages and relinquish power. On the face of it that sounds reasonably balanced, and since Hamas will never agree to either of those things (otherwise we would have a ceasefire by now) it seems like gesture politics.

However I am wondering if I am missing something?
