Has MN finally got a grip?

Apologies if I've missed threads and comments about this. I haven't been on MN for a while. There was a L-O-N-G time when the CITME forum seemed to be not only dominated by thinly veiled Hamas propaganda (perhaps shared in good faith by people with no critical appraisal skills, but who knows?) but also moderated by people who would not allow even the most coherent and carefully worded arguments against it. I didn't dare look, and got fed up of deleted posts. Am I imagining that we are finally able to respond without fear of being banned? I've been encouraged to see some voices being able to express sense without instant removal.

I just want to add, the naivety/insanity and gaslighting is still off the scale, I just get the impression that sane voices are no longer being brutally censored the way they were about a year ago?

I don’t know @Beachtastic. I feel anxious any time I venture over to that board. I do try and counter some of the idiocy if I’m feeling particularly indignant/ballsy (under other usernames) but it does feel like a Sisyphean task. I haven’t had posts deleted there though.

It's certainly a Sisyphean task, and probably utterly pointless. I only do it to show solidarity and support to those, like you, who have their heart in their mouth every time you go near that forum and are faced with outrageous insult after insult.

My only consolation is that those posting rational responses to the Israel-bashing stuff are clearly in a different league in terms of maturity, intelligence and general insight, so although it's not an equal battle in terms of volume, it makes up for it in quality 😁

That’s true! But as my FIL has often said to me, 50% of the population is below average intelligence. And so here we are. 😧😳🤣
