Budget for Bat Mitzvah

We still have a few years to go but we live in North London and Bat / Bar Mitzvahs can be very extravagant across our social group/peers. I’m talking about hiring out Hamleys and giving every guest vouchers to spend etc.

My husband and I would like to organise our finances taking that into account (we also have 3 children very close in age so it will be one after the other).

If you’ve had experience of this, approx how much did you spend on your child’s special day? What do you get for your money?

Thank you

You'll get a HUGE variety of answers.
You could hire out the local library hall and get a DJ, non offensive buffet, photobooth, etc, and you can do it all for a reasonable amount.
It really depends what you want out of a party.

We had the Kiddish at Shul on Shabbat (with hot food) for the community, family, and friends: £730

We also did a dinner at our house on Friday night, and a brunch on Sunday morning.

We did not do a big party. We didn't think it was necessary.

Hamleys = wow!!!
I also live north/northwest London and the BM parties (we are talking at least 7 years ago here though) ranged from an 'activity day' to a no holds barred party in a prestigious hotel with live band/entertainment etc.
We did the middle ground of party in hotel function room with 'inoffensive' ie, fish /veggie in house catering with good DJ and dancers to get the party going (the most important aspect imho). Hotels both in north london locations, one a bit more central than the other. Had a photobooth for both and an extra electronic game for DS as boys go a bit wild!
We also had a lunch after shabbat at home for DS. DD's was all on the Sunday.

At a guess I'd say around £15k for DS all in but cost of living has rocketed. We had just under 3 years between the two dates.
