She should be arrested, the fact we still have these people giving these speeches week in week out, its hate speech, you're calling for the "finishing" of Jewasand people are cheering and this is all fine and normal apparently, we're all imagining it.

I don't even know why people are allowed to wrap keffiyehs around their face to obscure their identity and make themselves look intimidating like that.

Comedycook · 24/06/2024 21:42

Just been told on the citme that Ashkenazi holocaust victims formed an ethnostate...

Sounds about right for that board.

I broke my own rules and posted rather than just reporting the repulsive comment. Sincerely hoping no one bothers replying to me because I have no interest in spending any time in the cesspit over there.

When it happens very often and you get used to all the security arrangements, it really becomes second nature.

You really just carry on as though it's normal because it is your normal. I certainly didn't know any different growing up seeing the news, watching my Dad check under his car and all that stuff.

You reach a point where you've heard so many shocking things that not much will shock you afterwards.

Even now I'm still security minded and, I admit, felt safer with soldiers on the streets compared to none now. If I visited Israel today, I'm sure I'd find a few things that would take me back to the old days.

Scale would be very different as would bomb shelters which reminds a Republican politician claimed a few months ago she went to bomb shelters in Belfast every few days! We had NONE as we weren't at risk of Hamas style rockets! 🙈🤣

You do adapt very quickly.

A colleague asked how I felt about the threat when I lived in Israel, I said fine, and actually I never had to worry about being mugged or burgled so it seemed pretty safe apart from the odd terror attack and occasional wondering if Iran was going to nuke us. They then told me how a friend's family in NI would always close the curtains before putting the light on in case there was a gunman outside. Now that seemed far worse to me - because it was so personal.

I very much appreciated your contribution. But yes, I totally understand...it can be so upsetting. I may take a break

I saw some astonishing looking polish chickens a few months ago.

Picture?

Bantams are very pretty!.

According to MN gif thing, this is a Polish chicken. I'm really hoping it's an accurate representation.

@Comedycook - I always feel better after a break from there. It's full of far too many bullies which has resulted in it becoming an echo chamber. It's a very unhealthy place to be.

Just googled polish chickens, they're gorgeous. I think big bird from sesame street must be a giant polish chicken.

quantumbutterfly · 25/06/2024 08:13

Apparently they're very docile and easily bullied by other chickens. :-(. Unless they are over 6 ft tall, then they get their own TV show.

quantumbutterfly · 25/06/2024 08:18

There is some great work being done on one of the CITME threads. Well done to the posters involved. You've been saying and using the evidence I've been longing to for months.

Is that the one recently deleted?

Disturbedby · 25/06/2024 10:22

The one you started @keenforhelp? Has it gone? Great work on it.

Ooooh the GIF wasn't far off, was it?!

Clearly once this thread is full, the next one is going to have to be called "Mumsnet could do better 4, and chicken appreciation"

I was also going to include recipes in the title but it felt too wrong to include that and chickens in the same sentence.

Love the Polish chickens - there used to be a couple at the petting farm near me. So friendly and would always run over for a bit of a chat and a request for grain :)

I turned vegetarian after seeing these guys.

Disturbedby · 25/06/2024 10:50

That's a shame. It started out being the only cheering and accurate thread that's been around for a while.

Bowib · 25/06/2024 10:53

Dug out a pic of one of omelette’s eggs compared to the others!

I think I am going to have to ask MN to withdraw a certain recently posted thread. It is simply frightful what has already been posted...

Ah, is that the Holocaust inversion one? Didn't take long for it to turn sour.

Yup. All of mine started to try and create some balance or to "educate" turn sour.

Humdingerydoo · 25/06/2024 11:25

I really want to know why Palestinians have to be compared to Jews. Why can't those who are supposedly pro-Palestinian not just come up with their own terminology? Why can't they use their own words to describe what's happening? Why do they have to borrow words from Jewish history? There are plenty of words out there, or they can come up with your own words, phrases, terms. Palestinians really don't have to be compared to Jews for people to care.

But I also really don't want to post on that board today. Sorry 🙃

Poor omelette! I try to buy medium rather than large eggs because....
Btw I've been told that chicken soup is Jewish antibiotic....chickenless soup just won't hit the spot.

25milesfromhome · 25/06/2024 11:28

@keenforhelp admirable motives but you're on a hiding to nothing with that thread, it'll rapidly descend into the same old, same old. People know full well what Holocaust inversion looks like and it's a conscious choice to keep using it when it's been pointed out repeatedly that it's antisemitic and offensive.

In egg-related news, I got a double yolker this morning, which I'm taking as a sign of good fortune.

EdithStourton · 25/06/2024 12:59

The latest podcast on Honestly (Bari Weiss) is interesting. A calm, rational discussion so far (I'm about 2/3 of the way through).
