Sorry! Should probably save my pent-up snark for those who actually deserve it 🙈

Heh I have a lot of siblings. I can cope (and seethe)

Hopefully you know I was only joking and that my cleverly disguised criticism was actually of other people who refuse to engage in threads if they don't get to hate on Jews and/or Israel in them :)

My frustration at the thread on AIBU is incredibly high 😬 I spent a few hours clearing out a deceased relatives house and was hoping the thread would be gone by the time I got home, but no.

(No need for sympathies - much beloved relative but actually passed away over 4 years ago! House has only just been sold though so there's a last minute panic to clear it all out!)

It's not about religion, she just hates people who want self determination for Jews and thinks they're so evil there is no way back for them. But it's got nothing to do with religion, promise.

This Is Fine GIF

She should be arrested, the fact we still have these people giving these speeches week in week out, its hate speech, you're calling for the "finishing" of Jewasand people are cheering and this is all fine and normal apparently, we're all imagining it.

I’ve been shaking with rage at you for hours 😅

We had a bit of an afternoon - roadblocks at the entrances to Jerusalem (DH was in work there) because there were warnings of an imminent terrorist attack. They’ve caught the suspects now.

😳

It's sad how matter-of-fact you are about it. That you don't even seem remotely surprised or shocked. Ugh. Fucking terrorists.

Humdingerydoo · 24/06/2024 18:35

(Excuse my clumsy wording earlier 🥴 I meant that it's sad how it's not a big deal that there was a terror threat because you're all so used to it by now, hence being so matter-of-fact about it. )

Did anyone who reported the thread on AIBU yesterday ever hear back about why it's been allowed to remain?

No, they just told me they were 'taking a look at it.'
Obviously diverting any discussion of antisemitism straight off to 'Zionists are wicked, no I am not antisemitic at all, how could you say such a thing?' is just fine.

What a surprise. I also reported it but I tend to delete the notifications without reading them when I have too many, which I have because of my big reporting spree yesterday 😂, so couldn't find the one for the thread. I also separately asked for them to do a bit of housekeeping but they clearly ignored that request too 🙃

I got what you meant. I was worried, and DH took precautions, but yeah, it wasn’t shocking.

yes I heard back

😳

It's sad how matter-of-fact you are about it. That you don't even seem remotely surprised or shocked. Ugh. Fucking terrorists.

When it happens very often and you get used to all the security arrangements, it really becomes second nature.

You really just carry on as though it's normal because it is your normal. I certainly didn't know any different growing up seeing the news, watching my Dad check under his car and all that stuff.

You reach a point where you've heard so many shocking things that not much will shock you afterwards.

Even now I'm still security minded and, I admit, felt safer with soldiers on the streets compared to none now. If I visited Israel today, I'm sure I'd find a few things that would take me back to the old days.

Scale would be very different as would bomb shelters which reminds a Republican politician claimed a few months ago she went to bomb shelters in Belfast every few days! We had NONE as we weren't at risk of Hamas style rockets! 🙈🤣

Pro-Palestinian protestors have blocked access to a Synagogue In Los Angeles. There has been violence as well.

Pro-Palestinian Protesters Block Access to Los Angeles Synagogue in Violent Clash - President Biden said he was appalled by the incident; ‘antisemitic hatred has no place in California,’ Gov. Gavin Newsom says

Politicians are saying the right thing, but there was only one protestor arrested. This kind of thing isn't going to stop if there are no consequences. Your right to protest doesn't override my right to worship.

Yes they've emailed me. Said they were continuing to review the thread to see if it's still "salvageable" and are dealing with some posters behind the scenes. And to keep reporting posts across the boards that "employ stereotypes, invoke harmful conspiracy theories, or target Jewish people as a whole rather than focusing on specific policies, actions, or the Government".

I've reminded them that just deleting one or two posts doesn't deal with the posters who display a pattern of antisemitism and goading and bullying Jewish posters, which would be easy to look at through their posting history. And also that a lot of posters have learned how to couch their antisemitism in coded 'Zionist' language.

I saw some astonishing looking polish chickens a few months ago.

Firstly, I need to know how you knew it was a polish chicken? Was it the accent that gave it away? Secondly, I think maybe @Bowib would be the person to talk to if you want to become a scapechicken. They're the resident expert on all things chicken, including the naming of them.

@MissConductUS it's awful, isn't it? And the couple with the toddler... Good grief. Imagine simulating shooting someone when your young child is in the car with you?!

@79Helene since they always ignore me, maybe you'll be able to find out why they didn't bother deleting a comment mentioning "the Jewish government". It is not ok that it's still standing, it's such a blatantly unacceptable thing to have said. Argh!!!!

79Helene · 24/06/2024 20:37

I think I actually reported that post separately - I thought it had been deleted? Can you remember what page it was on?

They actually just replied to me saying that it should have been removed when originally reported yesterday but that they must have just missed it. So all good!

Disturbedby · 24/06/2024 20:41

There is some great work being done on one of the CITME threads. Well done to the posters involved. You've been saying and using the evidence I've been longing to for months.

@Humdingerydoo, I didn't see the reference to the couple with the toddler in the WSJ story I linked. Was that in some other reporting on the same protest?

I was reading about it somewhere else earlier today. Can't remember where but here's a screenshot from another source briefly mentioning the event. One of the adults, I assume they were the parents, was pretending to shoot the pro-Israelis from the sunroof of the car.

Edited to add - pretending to shoot using finger guns, not an actual weapon!

This wasn't my original source but it's mentioned on here too.
