Remember the nonsense 'if this was a thread about Jews instead it would be taken down' 🤔

I had that thought 😅 Quite a few people said it as well! It really wound me up, now even more so.

79Helene · 23/06/2024 12:47

Yup, and in a further twist of irony, some of us were reporting posts and calling out Islamophobia on these threads.

The worst posters are the shit-stirring non-Jewish/non-Muslim posters who identify as white with no skin in the game but are 'just legitimately concerned about Gaza and Islamophobia'. They're actively sowing seeds to cause division on here between Jews and Muslims. Some of them are practically on these threads 24/7. Their Jew hatred couldn't be more obvious.

They start thread after thread then name change to start a few more threads. While also jumping onto other threads to bait Jews, shout 'genocide supporter' and bark at "Zionists" (which they couldn't define if their life depended on it) and dissect Jews and Jewish beliefs like it's a sport. And then some go further and NC to post 'as a Jew' when it's so bloody obvious they're anything but.

CITME wouldn't be half as bad if they were banned. HQ could quite easily deal with them, it's all there in the posting history. But traffic...

Towerofsong · 23/06/2024 13:07

Honestly all these Jew-hating threads are doing wonders for my Zionism and realisation of how much we need a safe country.

I reckon that every time the antisemites post their utter tripe, another Zionist is born.

I'm obviously not Jewish nor do I have any Jewish ancestry, but the more antisemitism I see, the more sure I am that it's important for Israel to exist as well as to degrade Hamas militarily as well as ideologically.

There's a shocking amount of antisemitism.

I've even got to know an IDF soldier over the last month. They contacted me rather than the other way round on a different platform where I predominantly tackle terrorist ideologies.

I obviously couldn't help myself and got involved 😂 But can't be bothered to directly reply to any comments.

I also posted. I seem to have missed the deleted comments though.

OP posts:

deleted comments were basically that hitler “tried genocide” and now the jews were doing it too.

reported, deleted, now being rewritten as “you can’t go against the narrative” rather then deeply hateful bullshit.

Ouch.

the ones I hate the most on other social media platforms are the ‘they’ve been kicked out of every country they’ve been in, you have to wonder why’ type comments. Victim blaming at its finest. If we’ve been so hated for so long, must be a reason eh? Uggggggghhhhhhhh

I'm so bad with plants I recently had a cactus die...I thought you couldn't go wrong with them but I have proved that wrong 😂

I have proven many times that cacti indeed can die 😭 although I have a few specimens at the moment which are holding on!

Agree.

Agree. I was not a Zionist, I was a Bundist which is a belief system that Jewish culture and identity is maintained regardless of the idea of a Jewish state... and that Jewish state was therefore largely irrelevant. But someone pointed out on a previous thread that to be anything but a Zionist was to buy into the idea of the Wandering Jew and to consistent cyclical persecution wherever we are.

The rampant anti-semitism under JC and the Labour party shocked me. But I thought it was a blip. Now I know it is not.

A Jewish friend of mine said that he'd thought the west had largely got over antisemitism. And then October 7th happened.

A lot of the students and young adults involved have no idea about the history, and no clue really about Hamas.

0palfruitsalad74 · 23/06/2024 15:54

I see it's business as usual on MN! Love the cactus pic above - I only have a sad looking rhododendron in my front garden!

I don't know if any of you saw the Tory MP for Bournemouth (Conor Burns) on twitter- he posted a video in response to the utterly vile antisemitism of his local Reform candidate, many of whom seem to be showing their true colours as the election approaches. I'm not a Conservative voter but the sheer anger in CB's voice was palpable and it was lovely to see such a stand being taken. He said something like, I'm not asking you to vote for me, just vote for anyone other than Reform.

I honestly thought in the UK it had calmed down a huge amount. I was more aware of it still festering in France. Then 7/10 happened. Sadly I can't see a way back from it for a long time and I think a lot of Jewish people are just going to hide who they are.

To see Jewish people being mocked on Mumsnet for airing how terrified they are that another holocaust might happen, and these posts being allowed to stand as well as have so many 'I agree' back-slappers, is awful to witness.

I had to laugh at the poster who was mightily offended at being called "arrogant", but apparently not by being called a jew-baiter.

79Helene · 23/06/2024 15:57

@0palfruitsalad74 Yes I saw that! He's just one example of many I've seen from those Reform candidates. Which is why I nearly lost it with a Jewish poster on one of our own threads last week for saying they were voting Reform 🙈

Yes I saw that too! There's no accounting for taste I guess 🤯

It might sound crazy but I took some comfort from the fact that his was the batshit far right conspiracy type of AS rather than the trendy left wing kind. This is where we are now!

79Helene · 23/06/2024 17:01

It's quite interesting how Farage's party on the far right is practically indistinguishable from George Galloway's party on the far left, where a lot of the old Corbyn lot have run to (as well as the Greens).

I saw a tweet the other day that I thought was quite astute - can't remember who said it, but was along the lines of "vote for Reform if you want the economic policies of Liz Truss and the pro-Putin/pro-Assad policies of Corbyn".

79Helene · 23/06/2024 17:44

I've reported that thread now. It's fucking disgusting.

Humdingerydoo · 23/06/2024 18:09

I don't blame you 79Helene. It has made me incredibly sad to read. The absolute denial of there being an anti-Semitism problem... It's honestly shocking. I keep going back to the fact that all Jewish institutions, including nurseries, have security. Surely that's a pretty clear sign that things really aren't as they should be? I'm not talking about just someone standing by the school gates and keeping an eye on the children, I'm talking multiple people in stab-proof vests who do regular bomb sweeps throughout the day as full time jobs. That's just for one school. That's the reality of being Jewish in Europe.

Bowib · 23/06/2024 18:29

cant face reopening that thread, I’ve been sat outside with my chickens, it’s a lovely day, which feels a rarity at the minute with the awful weather we’ve been having.

A Jewish mum in NYC and her Roman Catholic husband were attacked at a year 5 leavers ceremony by an Arabic speaking couple. The man doing the attacking has been arrested and charged with assault, but curiously, not a hate crime.

I think the rise in these spontaneous acts of hatred are on the rise because too much tolerance has been shown for the pro-Hamas, anti-Israel demonstrations as they became violent, starting with the ones at Columbia and NYU recently. That teaches the lesson that violence is okay if you are "protesting". The only bright spot here is that the current mayor of NYC, Eric Adams, has been strongly pro-Israel and is a former NYC Police Captain. He is a vast improvement over his predecessor, "big bird" Bill De Blasio, who never met a far-left cause he wouldn't embrace. Here is Adams giving a speech shortly after 7 October.

I did make it to church this morning (on time, too!) but was a bit miffed to discover that our rector, who is a woman, was on holiday this week with her husband and two little boys. Her husband is also an Episcopal priest, and marriages between them are quite common. Even worse, the supply priest they hired to do the services this morning was a bloke, and he spent 90% of his sermon scolding us about climate change. Apparently, if you drive an EV and have solar panels on your roof, that's good, but nowhere near sufficient. We need to return to being a preindustrial agrarian society. I was tempted to ask him as I left if he was going to forego modern medical care and replace his car with a horse, but I restrained myself somehow. 😁

Mother Jenny will be back next week, fortunately.

6 and they’re all named after food apart from tiny! We have gingernut, biscuit, peanut, tiny, marmalade and omelette 😅 all black tails, dh is wanting to get some “funky” chickens (his words not mine!) so some of the more unusual breeds next year!

@MissConductUS its the one in aibu, it started about the prosecution/scapegoating of Jews and when I last looked some had turned it into a demonstration of that.
