Ooooh I love a good cactus @MissConductUS !

Don't blame you for not attending mass on the grass in 35°C 😳 I hope you enjoy it tomorrow in the A/C!

How was your daughter's wedding? I hope she's been enjoying her honeymoon, although sounds like she didn't need to travel far for good weather!

Comedycook · 22/06/2024 22:50

I'm so bad with plants I recently had a cactus die...I thought you couldn't go wrong with them but I have proved that wrong 😂

79Helene · 22/06/2024 23:19

Oh god there's a new thread about the Joooz. And the antisemites are making themselves VERY heard.🙈

MissConductUS · 22/06/2024 23:38

Humdingerydoo, my daughter's wedding was on June 8th, and it was absolutely lovely. The temperature was around 23C and the sky was clear with just a few high clouds. She had an absolutely perfect day to get married. They had a church ceremony.

In keeping with the religious theme of this thread, I'll just mention that we had her reception at an old Episcopal Abbey (an Abbey is a nunnery with a school) that was converted into a posh hotel and event space. The restaurant has a Michelin star, and the food was fabulous. It's on a cliff overlooking the Hudson River. DD and her husband are both quite religious, so they liked the church theme of the place.

@MissConductUS Congrats to your DD. Wishing her a blessed marriage and a wonderful life.

❤🍾Flowers

MissConductUS · 23/06/2024 00:42

Thank you, @quantumbutterfly! She and her husband were high school sweethearts and both graduated from university this spring, so we had two graduations to attend in the weeks before the wedding. It's been crazy around here. He's off to graduate school in the Midwest to get his master's degree in computer science this fall, so she'll follow along and look for a job there or one she can do remotely. He's a lovely young man with a very bright future, so we're very pleased for her as well.

They're currently in Japan on a three-week honeymoon. It's hot there, but not as hot as here.

quantumbutterfly · 23/06/2024 00:53

Japan is on my wish list, such a beautiful country and fascinating people.
I read once that they have a word for something which is beautiful/precious because it is fleeting, like cherry blossoms.

Japanese craftsmanship is superb, I love the idea behind kintsugi that you make the repair of an object beautiful to show it as part of it's history.

MissConductUS · 23/06/2024 01:29

What a beautiful concept and a thoughtful blog post about it. My daughter was very into Japanese anime when she was a teenager, so that may be part of it. Her grandparents on DH’s side lived in Japan when her grandfather was in the Army and we have a lot of the ceramics and silk paintings and prints they brought back from there. So DD grew up with some exposure to Japanese culture.

SpuytenDuyvil · 23/06/2024 04:18

Mazal tov, @MissConductUS. Our DS was married in March and it is just a lovely thing to see the young people making happy lives together.

Where is the new one? Or has it already been deleted?

Yup, found it 😏 Reluctant to get involved.

Don't blame you!

Comedycook · 23/06/2024 08:17

As a quick summary though. We've had

-genocide
-zionists not Jews
-references to the holocaust
-cant criticise Israel without being called anti semetic
-i have Jewish friends

We should have started a game of bingo.

On the plus side, there are lots of lovely supportive posts..

I obviously couldn't help myself and got involved 😂 But can't be bothered to directly reply to any comments.

EllaDisenchanted · 23/06/2024 08:33

Congrats @MissConductUS ! The setting looks beautiful ❤️ wishing your daughter and son in law many many happy and healthy years together

Humdingerydoo · 23/06/2024 10:11

Ahh, I'm loving the posts about your children getting married! I wish them all happy and long lives together ♥️ I've somehow been married 10 years this year despite being utterly convinced I'm still in my very early 20s. Don't you just hate it when maths refuses to math??

Humdingerydoo · 23/06/2024 10:56

I regret not staying away from that thread 😬 Rather unpleasant way to be spending a sunny Sunday! It's getting worse and worse.

Same. I need to just start hiding these type of threads as standard and not engaging with the constant hatred.

Comedycook · 23/06/2024 10:58

I may have lost my cool on there

I did chuckle a bit at your latest comment 😅

And yes @Bowib , it is probably the more sensible approach to take!

79Helene · 23/06/2024 11:01

Remember the nonsense 'if this was a thread about Jews instead it would be taken down' 🤔
