Video - the man in the clip identifies himself as a Gazan and he's appears to be pissed with Hamas for the Nuseirat hostage rescue which ended in Palestinians being killed.

Watch how some men try to stop him talking and take him away near the end. Wonder what happened to him.

Yes, the facts available didn't support their claims of perfidy and war crimes in the hostage rescue mission. So they resorted to trying to impeach people's credibility, make claims of having had offensive messages which MN had no record of reports for, arguing about figures from Hamas and letting the UN's "may" doing huge amounts of lifting for them!

Oh, bothsidesism and false moderation aren't valid either. 🤷‍♂️

But nice to see a few people pushing back against the smears. Good job! 👍

I’ve re hidden that board, just depressing really, the dog whistle hints at a cabal running threads, makes a change from us running the space lasers I suppose.

Certain behaviours on that thread were absolutely shameful.

I’ve been reading this thread for the past couple of days and it’s such a breathe of fresh air amongst all the awfulness on the CITME boards and social media.
I’ve loved reading all the food posts especially! I didn’t have a very Jewish upbringing, so a lot of these dishes are new to me and it’s inspired me to get cooking.
@EllaDisenchanted I really must know, what are chocolate cheese balls? I’ve never heard of these but I feel I have missed out! They look delicious!

That thread was an eye-opener. 'Oh, we know the source is a bit dodgy but we'll take their stats 100% at face value because there aren't any others'. Like people who believe a scientific paper uncritically even when its manifold failings have been critiqued by other scientists. Where can you go with people like that?

As for that poor man in the video, deeply distressed and at the end of his tether. My heart goes out to him.

That's clearly exactly what it was. Very obvious.

Especially when some of them tried to distort what IHL says or made vague generalised statements that sounded reasonable on the surface but actually isn't.

I think it's important to clarify that MN hadn't received any reports regarding offensive messages, not that offensive messages weren't sent. Hopefully anyone receiving offensive messages will be reporting them as that's obviously not ok, regardless of what 'side' you're on.

I don’t see any reason not to believe that particular poster might have received offensive PMs, they have never seemed anything other than genuine and the debate has those with unpleasant views on both sides.

That's anonymous internet forums for you! Highly unpleasant places to be, and not just when it comes to the CITME board. AIBU is also absolutely awful! I do love a good parking thread though.

I have had so much abuse posting on MN over the years. Some really disgusting stuff. A campaign to get me banned even.

Posting against antisemitism has brought some new insults though. Being an apologist for war crimes for explaining the IHRA definition of antisemitism is going in my top ten.
