(for anyone unfamiliar, kneidlach are matzah balls. Some people like them to be dense so they sink to the bottom of the soup and others like them to be light and fluffy so they float. These people belonging to the latter former group are wrong.)

😂😂

Let the battle of the kneidlach commence

CloudyAgain · 04/06/2024 15:13

I'm a definite floater!

And the matzah balls I grew up with were the size of baseballs. None of these tiny little golfball-esque rubbish I see nowadays.

Ahh, was it a case of matzah ball with a side of soup? Sounds like a good ratio.

we ran out of lokshen this week so I made knaidlech. I'll take a pic if I remember this week, of PROPER FLOATING knaidlech.

They've been spouting that "freedom fighter" nonsense for months now, yet they deny that anyone on the board supports Hamas. It's gaslighting at it's most obvious as the proof is there in black and white, yet they pretend it isn't. It's ridiculous.

Done!

You'll find the more detailed post in the "Tel Aviv attacked" thread started by keenforhelp. 👍

People often don't think about how paradoxical that ridiculous cliché really is.

I'll have to tackle the French resistance one soon too - that'll be interesting! 🤣

0palfruitsalad74 · 04/06/2024 15:30

I think I've said elsewhere on here that I don't remember eating anything made heated up by my Jewish dad or grandma that didn't come out of a tin or a packet (fortunately the maternal side of my family did know how to cook or I'd probably have scurvy or something!) so I can't take a side in this argument! Kind of intrigued though, am going to have to google what I've been missing out on.

I'm unfamiliar with this concept of not having an opinion just because you don't know anything about it?? Have you learned nothing from the past 8 months?? All you need to do is pick a side and then stick to it no matter what.

Obviously don't know where you live but if there's a kosher aisle in your local Tesco* they often sell kneidlach mix. So you can try it out for yourself with minimal effort!

*Other supermarkets may also be available

It's ok to prefer the inferior option. Lots of people do. It just doesn't make them right.

Look forward to a food pic later in the week 🤤 I'm married to a non-Ashki so unfortunately don't have chicken soup anywhere near often enough for my liking as he doesn't consider it actual food 😔

Comedycook · 04/06/2024 15:50

Please don't talk about soup or knaidlech....I've been so unwell this week. I'd do anything for a bowl of my late grandma's chicken soup!

Haha you're right! In that case I'm team sinker cos floater sounds gross and anyway I had a Saturday job at Tesco when I was a teenager which pretty much makes me an expert on kosher cookery and middle eastern politics I think you'll agree 😉😉😉

I'm well used to the "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" crowd.

What I have less tolerance for are those who present themselves as a moderate voice who then go on to both sides issues such as terrorism. Usually, they oversimplify the role and actions of a State which is more varied, complicated and multifaceted than that of terrorist groups who essentially want to murder for their ideology.

The moderate voice already started with Whataboutery! 🙈

Always revealing how quickly some want to deflect from arguments Hamas is a terrorist group in favour of Whataboutery, usually to make counter-accusations of State terrorism.

That kind of behaviour is what I consider to be sneaking regardism.

Always focus on the fact they've had to resort to Whataboutery which is an acceptance your argument against their cliché stands!

Whataboutery is invalid reasoning against an argument.

If we didn’t have chicken soup every week, there would be meltdowns (genuine ones). Child will not accept eating out if they don’t serve chicken soup on Friday night 😱

heavy knaidlech are like rocks. Just why?!

I used to dip gefilte fish in my chicken soup with Osem maxi mandels.

Because of the texture 🤤 Plus, they taste better. Don't get me wrong, I'd gladly eat a floater. I'd just spend the meal wishing the cook had made slightly better choices in life.

Way to ruin both soup and the goodness that is osem mandels 😳

EllaDisenchanted · 04/06/2024 17:09

@keenforhelp i don’t mix meat and fish, but I cannot even imagine how that would taste together (not in a good way 😱). I now understand your username…

@Humdingerydoo what texture? They are light and smooth and fluffy! What’s not to like?!

i once mistakenly broke my fast after tisha b’av on chalva dipped in chrayne as a teen. We were out and I thought I had picked up a piece of gefilte fish. Not a match made in heaven 🤢

Humdingerydoo · 04/06/2024 17:15

Halva and chrayne 😂😂😂 That's hilarious. Serves you right for thinking eating gefilte fish was a good idea.
