What are your favourite pesach recipes? Sweet or savoury.

Mine are the pesach rolls from Evelyn Rose. We go through dozens of these.

Also these Chocolate puddle cakes

and these Chocolate raspberry coconut macaroons

My kids are a bit fussy about savoury stuff so we eat a lot of roast chicken or chicken schnitzels or salmon with mash or homemade wedges.

Chocolate Covered Raspberry Coconut Macaroons

These Chocolate Covered Raspberry Coconut Macaroons use minimal ingredients, taste delicious and are the perfect easy Christmas Cookie Recipe!

Pesach pancakes! Don't know their actual name but my grandma called them bubbaleh 😍I think Evelyn Rose has a pretty similar recipe to my family one but can never remember what she calls them. My Iraqi husband despairs of me and my love of them! His family eat almost exactly the same things for Pesach as they do for Shabbat all year round 🙄

Weirdly, both my MIL and my mum make delicious almond biscuits with a single almond on top despite one of them being Iraqi and the other of Polish descent. They're delicious no matter who makes them :) And then there's coconut and chocolate meringues... Not that I have an insanely sweet tooth or anything

Oh and Nancy Birtwhistle recently shared a recipe which was just stewed apple and melted chocolate mixed together and then allowed to set. Will try that for relatives with dairy, egg and nut allergies! I believe that recipe is also now doing the rounds on TikTok but I'm far too old-school for that

@Humdingerydoo apple and chocolate is an unusual combination. I’ll look that up.

I actually really love charoset. Plus cinnamon balls.

EllaDisenchanted · 14/04/2024 17:24

Chocolate cake recipe I have. It's a faff, but worth it. It will come out of the pesach boxes, and then I can post it.

I hate both those things 😂 Ben and Jerries makes charoset ice cream for pesach... WHY?!?!

Really @EllaDisenchanted?! That sounds gross. Also, I hope you’re doing ok. Last night must have been challenging, to say the least.

I can't remember what it tasted like, but I don't think it was so bad, I just wouldn't buy it except as a gimmick. It probably had enough sugar and fat in that it was fine. It couldn't have tasted like charoset though, or I wouldn't have liked it 😅

Thanks Beret - last night was not easy.

I can only imagine and I'm sorry to hear it. Sending lots of supportive thoughts your way.

(But not for charoset ice cream! 😀)

I hear you! My grandmother used to make charoset but with dates and apricots and an almost offensive amount of wine and cinnamon. She was French and an amazing cook but her charoset was truly disgusting.

ChallaMama · 19/04/2024 18:24

Evelyn Rose's cinnamon balls and her Lucious brownies are a regular here!

Also pesach pancakes - will post recipe.

If anyone has a good use for the leftover egg yolks let me know! Pesach baking always leaves these in abundance.

Chag Sameach everyone!

Igelkuchen/עוגת קיפוד/Hedgehog Cake. Freeze the yolks and make it after Pesach. Or make it with egg matzo instead of biscuits.

Or any variety of traditional custard. Yolks, cream/milk, sugar, vanilla. Baked or poured or made into ice cream.

Or buy cartons of egg whites, or egg white powder, instead of whole eggs.
