Feeling unsafe, unwanted, and hated in the UK

As a UK jew I currently feel safer and more welcome in the Muslim country I am visiting for the short term at the moment, than in the UK. The weekly rallies, one sided news reporting, social media hatred and useless police make me genuinely not want to return to the country I thought was home ..

I would definitely feel my kids were safer somewhere like Dubai or Saudi right now than London - but then in those places they have zero tolerance for the kind of nonsense London seems to allow.

I understand totally how you feel, but take strength that they love doing this to Jews, every generation finds a new reason to do it, and this time we are not cowering in a corner.

I strongly believe in the long run every one of these scum bags will face consequences and get a short, sharp education.

I understand, OP.

We all knew there were anti-semitic scumbags out there. What’s worried and shocked me are things like the police reponse to the swastika and the BBC reporting on the death of Henry Wuga without mentioning he’s Jewish and saying he left Germany due to pre-war tensions! That’s just to give two examples.

Same here and after the deaths of the charity workers even more so. I’m appalled with both sides but the lack of understanding as to why Israel has needed to protect their country from Hamas for so long , is astounding . So much bias, uninformed opinions and confusion and refusal to accept it’s not Israel bad, Palestine innocent or acting out of necessity.

I can no longer believe the reports of events from either side, but have enough knowledge to know Palestine is a constant danger to Israel that they must protect themselves from. Netanyahu seems a disaster and how or if this can be resolved in the short term, let alone the longer term, is hard to see when each side appears to want the other obliterated.

This floored me. Totally and utterly. And I thought I'd seen and heard it all recently. Can't believe the police are turning a blind eye to actual swastikas in this city. And still, some Jews will march alongside that shit and pretend they don't see or hear anything. Enablers, every last one of them.

I still don't feel unsafe though (not yet anyway).

Can't say I'm feeling too fond of Israel right now (an understatement), but I genuinely worry about the future for Israelis, they don't deserve this. And neither do Gazans (well, those that are still alive). Netanyahu is creating an even bigger monster than Hamas and Hamas 2.0 will be even worse.

I hear you, OP. It's really fucking stressful.

My feelings exactly.

Why does nobody ever worry about the radicalisation of Israelis by 7th October? Israelis aren't the compliant, docile European Jews of old. I think Sinwar et all should be more worried about the monster they have created and the complete 180 degrees many Israeli peaceniks have done since the pogrom.

stomachamelon · 07/04/2024 09:26

@cholent99 I completely agree with that and tbh that's my experience with people I know.

'And still, some Jews will march alongside that shit and pretend they don't see or hear anything. Enablers, every last one of them'

@Hélène79 I hate to use the words disgusted and ashamed but I am.
