Stone Consecration

My mum died last month and I'm her only child (daughter). She is buried in our home town where there is still a very small Jewish community and cemetery.
I was just looking for advice/ideas about the stone itself and anything I should know about the unveiling and the L'chaim.
I'm married out and am not part of any Jewish community.

Sorry for your loss. Is your mum buried in the Jewish cemetery? If so, speak to the burial society for that cemetery who should be able to give you details of the local stone masons they deal with and they will be able to give you guidance as to what should be included on the stone.

There is no need for a l’chaim after the stone setting unless its something you want to do

Thank you. Mum is buried in the Jewish cemetery and I'm planning on getting a stone similar to my grandparents' ones.
The funeral was very rushed as it was early Friday afternoon and I was very ill with flu so didn't even have prayers as planned in her (Jewish) care home.
Do you have an idea of cost of black marble stone?

@petuniasandpetals you would need to speak to the stone mason about the cost of the stone because the cemetery may have other charges that will need to be included. The burial society that helped to arrange the funeral will be able to point you in the right direction. From my experience the stone will take some months to make. According to Jewish tradition the stone should be erected within a year of the funeral
