What are your plans for Chanuka, specifically with respect to children away at university or work? Will you send them a gift? Or a supply of latkes and donuts?

I've packed a box with 8 small wrapped gifts, a chanukiah and candles to post to son at uni.

If kids live in halls of residence, just be aware that they might not be allowed any candles.

When I was at uni my parents mostly sent me money for Chanukah. They live abroad though, so maybe that's different. It was definitely appreciated as I could then afford a fun night out with my friends before heading back home for a couple of weeks💃

I like the idea of sending a chanukiah. Last year dc was in halls, but this year they're in a house, so can do what they like.

I've sent dc this: Magnetic Hanukkah Travel Menorah with Colored Candles for Chanukah amzn.eu/d/9DkZfNL

Not only is it pretty, but it is not obviously Jewish. Which is very sad, and I sincerely hope that my dc can feel safe and honest with their friends.

@Dilbertian These are lovely and I hope your kids are feeling as safe as possible just now.

Both DCs at uni, we can do a virtual candle lighting, but actually sending small gift is a nice idea and they can have a main present when they come home.
Next year it’s really late, first night is Xmas day (I work in a Jewish organisation so I know these things…)
