I'm not Jewish so sincere apologies for the intrusion but I just wanted to come here to give my support and love to you all at this awful, awful time.
I cannot begin to imagine how the Jewish community must be feeling just now. Although it may feel from daily life and watching the news that you have little support in the UK, I want you to know that you do. We may not be protesting but we support the Jewish faith and community and wish for your hostages to be brought home safely. Thinking of you all.

Thank you so much

Posts like this really are little windows of light in challenging times. Thank you for your kindness and for taking the time to post

Dilbertian · 05/11/2023 17:40

Thank you. These little moments of kindness and courtesy from both people we know and from strangers are little moments of light in otherwise darkening world.

sayitkindly · 05/11/2023 19:01

Well said @eyeoresancerre 👏👏

I came on here this evening to say that I am sending my love and support to all of the Jewish community at this horrific time and read your post, your words mirror my own thoughts of what I wanted to say but you have articulated it better than I could.

To all Jewish MN's please know that there is much support, love and compassion across the UK, for all of you, your families and communities. I, like many others, hold you all in my thoughts and I hope for the speedy and safe return of all your hostages.

Lindos1 · 05/11/2023 20:12

Yes, to the Jewish communities in the UK please know you are loved & valued.
I feel absolutely sick reading some of the messages on the Middle East threads. Goodness knows how you must feel if you are Jewish.
I've written to my MP for the second time (which feels pointless really), this weekend re: the marches. Anti- semitism is not being dealt with & I feel some on the marches with neferious intent are becoming emboldened, week by week. The government must DO something at some point soon to get control of this situation. Frankly politicians & the police just look scared.
I feel like I can't just stand by & watch this happen. Can anyone advise where to go to get information about planned events to show support ie the gathering at Parliament Sq this weekend for the hostages. I cld potentially get into London for the day, but don't know about these events until after they've happened.
Sending love...

Towerofsong · 05/11/2023 20:17

I would also like to know where to hear about the vigils, I am Jewish and Israeli and outside London, and only hear about them after the fact.

Towerofsong · 05/11/2023 20:18

Eyeores,.Sayitkindly, and Lindos....
Thank you for your words of support and for the the time to come and give them. It is so very much appreciated :-)

cherryblossomwoman · 06/11/2023 12:55

@eyeoresancerre @sayitkindly @Lindos1

Thank you for your words of support. Your messages mean a lot to us.

cherryblossomwoman · 06/11/2023 13:09

@Lindos1 I am curious as to how did you find out about the gathering on Parliament square yesterday? It has not been reported in the news, or have I missed it?

Lindos1 · 06/11/2023 14:14

Sorry I can't remember where I saw it- I was flicking through channels mid- day yesterday...

Cropcycle · 06/11/2023 20:17

Thank you so much . It means a great deal.

Thestruggler · 07/11/2023 23:07

Just adding my support as someone that isn't Jewish, for our Jewish communities.

I work in a university and the last few weeks have been horrendous for my Jewish students. Intimidation on campus, in halls of residence- we have put support in place already but a fair few has left the university for the time being due to the demos on site which left them feeling afraid to attend and have returned to their home cities.

I am a very junior member of staff and feel helpless but I've flagged this to all those I could think of higher up- hopefully make a difference because these students deserve to study without fear.

CloudyAgain · 08/11/2023 20:08

Thank you so very much for these messages. It means so much. I just feel like I am crying all the time.

sayitkindly · 08/11/2023 23:31

Keeping you @CloudyAgain in my thoughts and sending you a virtual hug.

I am Jewish living in the UK. My parents live in Australia.

They are 78 and 79.

I am visiting them right now as my mother is ill. I am sitting here listening to them talking and panicking and discussing; 'But where do we go to be safe?'

They are 3rd generation Australian.

THIS is how it is now for British and Australian Jews. Right now. This. This fear.

Oh that is so horrible

I have seen some of the footage from protests in Australia. The way people have acted is worse than they are in the UK. I can't imagine just how worrying this is for Jews in Australia. It really is appauling that the elderly in particular have to deal with this.

Lolapusht · 09/11/2023 13:24

Another not Jewish person offering support 🙋🏻‍♀️

I have been appalled by the comments I’ve been reading on MN. I’ve posted on a few different threads and have received vitriol for daring to suggest that Israel isn’t 1000% at fault for everything and responsible for everything happening in Gaza (including protecting Palestinians from Hamas fire while they’re evacuating!).

Anyway, I don’t want this post to be about other people (with completely entrenched, misplaced notions about what is going on and who are incapable of even considering evidence contrary to their viewpoint).

You are not alone. Not everyone is against you. The weight of what happened on 7 October must be huge, but I for one will help carry some of it if I can. If you’re going through Hell, keep going.

LoveLabradors · 09/11/2023 19:30

@eyeoresancerre absolutely very well said. I am disgusted at what has happened in this country over the past month. Anti semitism has been allowed to run rampant and these marches are about dominance and creating fear. An utter disgrace.
I also feel that Jewish people have barely been able to publicly mourn and acknowledge probably the most barbaric and monstrous evil attack of my Lifetime. It has been brushed under the carpet.
My heart aches for what the victims endured and for all their loved ones and friends. My heart also aches for the fear that Jewish people must have.
Sending warmest wishes and thoughts x

GlorianaCervixia · 10/11/2023 09:34

I'm glad I saw this thread, I've just been reading posts in the Conflict In the Middle East section and seeing the marches around the world feeling absolutely shocked at the blatant anti-semitism, the ignorance of history. I thought I understood what anti-semitism was but my eyes have been truly opened. I had no idea it was so deep within the the left, within universities and so many other places

My full support to all Jewish Mumsnetters and your families. I know this a very painful time but you are greatly valued. It's an outrage that Jewish people around the world now feel unsafe on the streets of their own cities.

My very best wishes to you all. I think about the hostages often and hope they will all be restored to their families. I will never forget the events of October 7th.

jewishorthomum · 12/11/2023 01:38

Thank you for your support.

Its very scary being a Jew in the UK at the moment.
Expressing your support means a lot. It makes me feel less alone and vulnerable. Thank you

Cropcycle · 12/11/2023 10:10

Gloriana. Thank you. Support is very much appreciated and needed. I think a lot of Jewish people have also had their eyes opened to the amount of antisemitism there is. I’m in my 60s and always knew it was steadily bubbling away under the surface but never have I felt this much loathing and hatred. It’s like every Jewish person is responsible for the dreadful nightmare that is Gaza right now.

AllMyGoodUserNamesAreAlreadyTaken · 12/11/2023 15:21

A note of thanks from me to all those posting in support. I so needed to see and read this. Like many fellow Jews, we have family and friends in Israel and I'm in touch with them most days. They see what's going on around the world re the protests and ironically they feel safer in Israel and worry about us living in the UK and elsewhere. I have family scattered worldwide who are also first hand experiencing the hate😢
Due to my (non London) geodemographic location, I have reached a point where I plan my shopping/outings away from the closest city centre to me. I was inadvertently caught up in a baying mob back in 2021 screaming the "From the River" chant and it shook me to my very core. That was tame in comparison to what I've seen and heard this time around. Never in 2023 did I think I would feel as scared and afraid as I do now

andmeandmeandme · 12/11/2023 18:33

Love and support against antisemitism in Paris this afternoon, apparently 105,000 people attended the march.

(Was slightly reluctant to post this because Le Pen and RN members involved, and they're about as much a friend to French Jews as Mélenchon and his acolytes).
