Question about the 23andme data breach

So I was reading a some stuff on it and it says:

"resulted in the targeted exfiltration and sale on the black market of at least one million data profiles pertaining to individuals with Ashkenazi Jewish heritage," as well as "hundreds of thousands of individuals with Chinese ancestry."

"The increased frequency of antisemitic and anti-Asian rhetoric and violence in recent years means that this may be a particularly dangerous time for such targeted genetic information to be released to the public," Tong's letter to 23andMe said.

Do people think this was targeted purely to sell the data separately to different groups that target Jews and Chinese people separately?

Is there a specific group that wants the data for both groups?

or

Is the taking of some Chinese data too likely to be a deliberate bit of trickery?

(I have to say in recent years China has voice concerns that they think they could be the target of DNA bio weapons or DNA prejudice etc. Plus I believe there could be valid concerns there)

Anyway who do people feel are likely to have hacked for both these sets of DNA data?

DH is in computer security (encryption and sensor networks), and thinks it's likely just a hacker with low morals who would be willing to sell it for the right price.

Yes that seems very likely. I can't see many groups wanting both these groups of data together. I have been thinking on this and not an obvious group/country that is a fret to us both. Not that I know about anyway
