Seriously. Is it the same few people just name changing or is it really this toxic in the UK? There is so much poisonous Jewish hatred on here. I'm not talking hatred of Israel, just vile antisemitism on so many posts now.

I truly think I have to step away before I lose faith in humanity. Why does MN seem to attract so many hateful posters? Maybe it's the anonymity.

I can't keep calling it out. Im exhausted and actually deeply disturbed by it now.

Ah, it was a new one on me (I don't live in the UK). Maybe it explains some of the groupspeak posts? But then I'm sure the BDS hardly has the monopoly on that kind of dogma.

Is there a general thread tracking anti semitism? Or just the one about preventing anti semitism in the uk?

@EllaDisenchanted Don't think there is. There was a more general placards one a few months ago but that filled up pretty quickly (which is odd because apparently there's been no antisemitic placards)!

My SIL in NYC has fallen foul of BDS. She's Israeli with American citizenship, and did her postgrad in a social justice-related topic at Columbia. She's been unable to find work over the past couple of years due to BDS. As soon as recruiters find out she's Israeli, they dump her. It's extremely sad because her area of expertise is seeking justice for youths who are illegally incarcerated in US prisons, and she could do some amazing work if someone would just employ her.

Something needs to be done about the rabid Anti-Semitism on here.

There is literally no point engaging on those threads now (a fact that I need to keep reminding myself of because some of the comments are so off the chart crazy - i havent always managed to keep quiet. For some reason i have a different posting name on there, have no idea how to switch back!).

Every time you see a glimmer of what might actually pass for sensible debate, some dickhead will jump on with WELL, what about THIS [totally irrelevant point], HUH? What do you say to THAT? Israel running a full S Africa-esque system of apartheid seems to be the latest one.

@0palfruity You can switch back in settings under 'see username history' then paste into 'save username'. I'm using a different one for the Midd East boards and mostly use another for the 'normal'(?) threads. I think it's the best way to stop being followed over here tbh, and therefore better for the old mental health!

I just need to remind everyone to not only be careful of those who are outright antisemitics but those who are wolves in sheep's clothing.
Seem sympathetic than castigate and ridicule when they think they are on safe threads.

Xmas shenanigans driving me slightly round the bend .

I still do my (Christian) bit on some pro Palestinian threads as I support Israel but there is certainly a huge volume of people on the other side. It was similar when I was at university in the 1980s too - very vocal people. It will calm down in a few months' time in the UK.

In the UK if someone were not given a job in breach of the Equality Act 2010 eg because of religion that could lead to legal proceedings.
